General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

Im going into the office for a meeting tomorrow AM, first time since March 23rd and Ive been home since March 17th

Going to have to youtube how to put a bra on, its been that long!

I had a bra fitting via Zoom today 😂 it was actually quite a nice way to do it, in the comfort of my own home in my morning tea break.

SA officially has 0 active cases as of today.

Now we just need to keep the borders closed till a vaccine is found 😂 Those from the plague states, keep away! :p

I feel the same - unfortunately being in the middle of NSW we can’t close our borders :) :)

My friend apparently is now sending nurse’s hats off to London. It’s funny to see her described as a pensioner - not that long ago she was an IT Project manager :)

There are so many ads on that site I can't actually work out what your friend is making?

And watch SA dwindle into the past, Covid free but no economy.

Our chief medical officer says we can't be smug and complacent here in SA till we've had 14 days of no active cases. Just in case the handful of active cases from the last 14 days have infected others who are currently unknowingly incubating the virus.

Meanwhile we're now allowed to sit outdoors at a cafe (max 10 customers at a time, no alcohol allowed). Gyms supposedly can reopen on 8 June, fingers crossed.

Or full speed into the future, using the information superhighway instead of the old fashioned methods? :p Now that my industry has realised that it is a lot more convenient for everyone to conduct meetings by phone or video link I'm hoping we don't have to go back to the old schlepping round the city and country routine. YMMV.

I really hope interminable, turgid group meetings in physical meeting rooms are a thing of the past post-Covid. Video and voice call meetings are far snappier. Hate to think how many months of my life, and lost productivity, have been wasted listening to people drone on about, "I did this thing yesterday I'm doing another thing tomorrow, I have a problem with another thing and why isn't there more milk in the office fridge?"

Though in my industry video meetings have a place but really can not replace face to face meetings with colleagues entirely.
As for telehealth-good for simple things but they do miss a lot and often end up in hospital getting checked on by my colleagues.

So, I should just rule SA out of my caravan travels now, and in the future? One of the things I really disliked about northern coastal Qld was the feeling that your money was welcome, but tourists were not. So, I ruled it off the map a while back.

Chairs. The problem is chairs. Meetings should NEVER have them. They will be much shorter, and more productive. And probably a lot less common.

If the SA CMO used those words I’d be surprised and disappointed, but anyway even if 14 days elapses with no detected cases we all know COVID is circulating, the testing just hasn’t been broad enough to pick it up. Sorry, only idiots would feel smug and complacent.

People just need to be alert and get on with normal life with better hygiene and social distancing, by assuming they and everyone they come into contact has it.

I agree and disagree here and obviously I don’t know what career/industry you are in.

I am also enjoying less work travel. But I also see the HUGE benefit in having F2F contact, meetings, socialising as well.

Zoom and Webex’s etc haven’t nullified physical meetings in the past because they are good maintenance not replacement tools.

Travel will be back but will suffer a GFC like recovery where it is suppressed for a while from corporates for sure - due to budgets being cut, risk and insurance to work out etc. But it will be back.

What, you don't mean the meetings held for the sake of holding a meeting?!. Blasphemer - that would wipe out half of some people's diaries. :)

I too, hope that the way people communicate and interact will get better i.e. focussed and productive.
