General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

I am. Almost instantly we had multiple cancellations of work. So now when I see statements of elimination as opposed to management it strikes a chord. Maybe its the media speak and not what the Govt actually has in mind. 🤞

Although I just made myself a naughty but excellent bacon sandwich and it has improved the mood substantially.😂
Yes being hungry definitely exacerbates gloom. Every time I have a dividend cut or pended or rent slashed I comfort eat. :)

I do think we are moving into an easing period though and I think we are going to be a lot better by June.

I'm curious.

For all the previous deaths in the nursing home in NSW the age and gender has been revealed. But today, "a Person" who has no known relatives has died but no further detail will be revealed.

Any ideas?

Quite possibly because quite a few people may know exactly who that is-eg families and visitors of other residents at the home. The old are good at providing info such as poor Maisie she hasn't got any family at all.
So most likely because of privacy concerns.

Ok. So is that a temporary or permanent non-disclosure? Because all those who did have relatives and friends have already had their "base" details released.

It most likely will be a privacy issue. Data can only be released if the relatives allow it. No relatives may make the permission aspect problematic. I remember early on there was one death announced and no details at that time were released. Initially not even the age, but I do note now that all deaths are now shown in an age band.

That would make sense - a privacy technicality - no one to authorise release - possibly until executor appointed etc..

The latest ACT case apparently is thought to be a person in her 20s who having had no symptoms during the 2 week iso after arriving from o/s, may have recently been found to be shedding "dead virus cells".

I do hope that once restrictions are lifted they entertain the thought of allowing us super spreaders from the UK entry.

I swapped a bottle of wine for a paint brush on the weekend and my mental and physical health thank me for it.

and enjoy a 2 week holiday in a gov sponsored hotel. ;)

If you were a West Australian you could possibly have a holiday on Rottnest Island and perhaps get a selfie with a Quokka.:p Admittedly, it is a bit wet today but still better than being in a hotel for 14 days.

That would be me 👍🏻

Spain are showing movies outside as well to increase morale. I had a UK friend ask last night if we still have drive ins - I think there is one in SA still

Spain is talking about borders not opening till October at the earliest, summer in Europe is cancelled this year. EU trying to agree a Schengen wide policy to override it though.

But try getting Celebrity cruise line to cancel any cruises out of Italy right now.

A letter on the Traveller website. A dose of reality wouldn't go astray

I doubt that it Y will be dumped, but yes the spacing of seats will quite possibly be changed which will makes things more spacious. But yes at higher than Y prices.

Y tickets could be somewhat eye-watering if and when international flights are recommenced.

and there is a triple screen drive-in north of Melbourne. Not sure if its temp closed due to covid restrictions.
