So you would have all of us wear masks when the Australian new case numbers are ~ 1600 per day or 0.006% of the population.The debate is about whether you want to protect others by wearing a mask in high density situations. As you mention, public transport is one.
Even if use the 7 day figures it is just over 6000 per day or 0.24% of the population.
For minimal effect on transmission but known side effects especially for children and those who rely on lip reading plus disruption of normal social life.
It is about time you faced the facts. Any reduction in transmission now would be minimal. You always must balance the good and the bad effects.
