Well one of the covid patients in QLD outbreak is a nurse who has already been vaccinated, albeit once only.
If we are having a sweep, my guess is June 2022 at the very earliest for International travel, assuming the population is vaccinated by then ... and that is not looking good. 2 friends in the first (most vulnerable) group of people to be vaccinated have just been told they get their first jab mid June and 2nd in September.
What hope have we got when the rollout is so protracted?

Well... some positive news. The Fed Health Minister mentioned we had a record day for vaccinations yesterday, with 72,826 in 24 hours. And it's expected to ramp up from there. (670,000 vaccinations so far.)

So maybe not all doom and gloom!

What is it going ramp up to and when will it ramp up? Will it be before Xmas this year?

I think the 2023-24 timeline for intl travel returning sounds about right. The vaccination program started late - and by late I mean far later than Europe, UK, US and some M/E countries. Now, the vaccination program is going very slowly. And as some here have noted in the past, let's be frank, the politicians don't actually care.

Like the guy “Sam”, the nurse must not have had any symptoms. I cannot imagine her ignoring the sniffles, sore throat or aches. Being asymptomatic is a problem because it doesn’t stop one going out and about as usual, unknowingly spreading the disease.

That figure of 72K doesn't even include the capacity of many GPs (can't get supply, or enough supply), pharmacies, and all mass vaccination centres. One of the mass vaccination centres in Melbourne was reportedly almost empty today, waiting for emergency services workers. Otherwise eligible patients were being turned away.

We need to average double that to be all vaccinated by end of 2021. Doable.

Yes doable if people work as hard on weekends and we can wrap up 1st jabs by 30 September.

When will that actually begin? Because if we start vaccinating 1 million per week from tomorrow, assuming it goes 100% to plan, then we can get it all done by the end of this year. That is best case scenario.

There is a difference between supply and actually vaccinating people. We first need to reach the point where the supply of 1 million per week is available, then we need to get to the point of vaccinating 1 million people per week, and I assume that will take a few weeks/months, the way things are going.

I'm not too sure the vaccine rollout is going that smoothly everywhere in the USA.A good friend of ours from Colorado was vaccinated with his first shot earlier this week.Didn't know until the day before it would be at a clinic 2 hours from home.Waiting room was crowded and had to wait 3 hours after his appointment time to get the shot.

Considering the past president had covid 19 in the last few months of his term, no I don't think he denied it's existence. The previous administration is the only reason we have vaccines.

Also I'm pretty sure the response to covid was high on the list for both. Several trillion in cash giveaways and spending would be a testament to that....

Yes and no. It still doesn't change the realities of vaccinating 300 plus million people across a huge landmass with vastly different climates and population demographics. My point was more that there was a lot of angst here early on but as production has increased (as it will in Aus, albeit with AZ) and states and counties have gotten more venues organized the speed has been quite remarkable.

Though all those top countries in the list have way higher death numbers than Australia still.
Plus the 3 countries at the top of total doses given are the 3 countries that produce the most vaccines.
And Israel secured the immediate supply of the Pfizer vaccine by agreeing to supply Pfizer with the medical details of all those who received the Pfizer vaccine.I can imagine the outcry if Morrison and Hunt had done that here.
