Shingles shots?
Im trying to convince hubby to do his bowel cancer home kit test thingy but its a battle. Hes steadfast refused for a few years now.

I received my freebie kit in the mail last week. It's now very simple and straightforward and the samples were sent off very promptly.

I'm too young for free shingles shots but my neighbour (ironically a steadfast anti-vaccinator) has now a bad dose of the disease. I'm off to my doctor for the vaccine next week ($200 is nothing compared to the alternative).

I have no medical training just personal experience of medical trials and I would opt for that if possible. My father had pancreatic cancer and was put on a trial. He had an excellent response and was told later he was on the new treatment. (Pancreatic cancer seems like it can never be stopped so it was never going to cure him).

Seems like injuring one's ankle is quite contagious. Is there a shot for that?

I've discovered I have loungeitis..... I've had two attacks already and can feel another coming next Monday..... Symptoms include breakfast, lunch, 3 newspapers and lots of drinking with snacks. The admiral says it's only a 1 month infection :(

Currently Mrscove's parents are 93 and 90. They had their shingles shots in the last 2 years and no issues.
Yes Flashback we will know who to blame if we start all falling over with ankle injuries.
I am glad we are missing the humid heat wave London has at the moment.

I'm glad I'm missing it too - it's a lovely 21 in Lima right now ;)

Crikes, 3 newspapers. You must be bored.

no doubt you are right, but I am in the rather be dead than lose my cognitive ability camp :).

I hear "rather be dead than..." and "got to die of something" a lot. The thing people miss is that a lot of this, while preventative, is not preventing mortality alone.

A big heart attack could make you wish you were dead while not quite being there, as can a large or small stroke.

The statin has more benefit in preventing cognitive impairment from a stroke than the low (arguably unlikely/non existent) risks of impairment as a side effect, which is still up for debate.

I do understand all that - everyone has to make their own judgement call..... Frustrating as it might be to the medical profession (and Dr FM made me read thousands of things, before I made it). My family all understand my wishes in the case of major impairment reducing quality of life, if I have lost the ability to make my own arrangements.

i know it sounds a bit gross to do, but it only takes a few seconds and appears to be a really good screening test. I have done two now (both negative - yay), and it really is non intrusive! Such a good recovery rate with early detection.

We had Nick Lee visit our office last Friday and yes, its easily preventable so Im going to nag him and do the test this weekend as each employee got a home test kit. Hes not happy.

The government home test kit was much more involved in comparison to the kit I got from Home - Jodi Lee Foundation

yes I just went and read up - a little easier. Hope you are successful in making him do it. :)

I believe the report focuses on "preventable" conditions like cardiovascular disease, asthma, back pain, diabetes, obesity, etc.

Sometimes these are preventable, and sometimes they are not.
