General Medical issues thread

Bummer for MrsFB. :(

That's now upgraded (downgraded?) ........ she's currently how I was, at this time yesterday. Need to make a call on whether to visit the hospital or not as we fly KTM-KUL in 30 hours.

When I went downstairs to let the guide know we weren't going today, I saw a German couple down there who have both also come down with the same. Oops!

If it was me I would take her to the hospital NOW - she needs to be in the best condition possible for flying.

Did you eat meat? Husband and son both of whom are both prone to tummy issues didn’t eat meat throughout Nepal and India and travelled well without any issues.

A small amount, but had meat most days here. Have travelled to India 3 times (and had meat) and no issues there. Who knows.......

Though from memory isn’t MrsFB vegetarian?

She is indeed, so maybe what I had/have is contagious and has been passed on? It could also be water related, i.e. a splash of water while doing something which then makes it to your hands etc...... dunno, we've been pretty careful (brushing teeth with bottled water, cleaning toothbrush with bottled water, etc.) and have been using hand sanitiser before every meal.

Well, they can help counter the nausea and diarrhoea and give her some saline before her dehydration gets too extreme. But I'm guessing it's a virus. I'm concerned where it came from given there's another couple sick as well. Don't go near that friend of yours who's doing Base Camp and tell him to be extra careful who he comes in contact with.

He's already in Lukla so all good.

We are now back for Mrs Flashback.

I'd say she'll be out by this evening all going well :)

My only orders for today is to get the last minute souvenir shopping done..... something like 10 Things To Buy In Nepal For Souvenir

Mission successful and even got a better price than I aimed for with some hard bargaining. It took walking out the shop 6 times and almost 400m down the street before he agreed.... he was he 7th one I bargained with!

Friends all had full sets of vaccinations again (and pertussis was there as well) when they were expecting grandies.
My GP has told me I don't need to worry about vaccinations. I'm not sure what I had a child. Perhaps mumps and measles. Chicken pox as an adult.

On the good front my cholesterol was 4.7 (total), even though I only took Crestor for 9 days and the test was nearly 4 weeks after I stopped. Be interesting to see the next one.
I had high cholesterol for many years. GP said need to be on medication for life. Think it was Crestor. After a few years I'd had enough and stopped taking medication. 6 months later Cholesterol back to normal and 10 years later still normal.

It wasn't Crestor. The body did it all.
