General Medical issues thread

Bit of an update. My specialist was delighted with my progress at today's pre-chemo appointment. Pet scans 2 weeks ago indicated I still have active cells over my heart but the large tumour that was the cause of all this has reduced dramatically in size. Normally the expectation would be no active cells but they tell me it is not unexpected given the size of mass we started with. Next Monday is the 2nd last chemo I will have before transferring, after a few weeks rest, to NSP for around a month of radiotherapy. I look forward to each chemo as it means I am one less cycle closer to my goal.
When all this is done I still have another 2 years of treatment for the 2nd less aggressive cancer that was identified in the needle biopsies.

Everything considered treatment is going really well.

So not just an overnight for the boss as we first thought! Up to 6 nights!

Revision of fibial laser left knee replacement. (90/60)

Medial collateral ligament reconstruction.

So glad we have private health insurance…….

Her surgery ran about 1 1/2 hours late to issues with previous case.

She hasn’t spoken to the doctor as yet, but her notes indicate that it is the MCL only that has been repaired. So hopefully the rest of the hardware was ok and she will be home tomorrow or Friday.

That's pretty good news prozac - a while to go but getting through the treatment and as you say, you can count them off as one step closer to your goal. Hope you have been traveling OK under the chemo.

Hopefully yes, the rest of the knee is intact and only the MCL required the work. Pass on best wishes and love (you know what I mean).

I know everyone has their own issues and struggles but I didn't ever imagine life would be this difficult before 60.

Driving a car and have severe pain in groin which gets worse as right foot is on accelerator and switching between accelerator and brake makes pain worse. Makes driving uncomfortable for longer distances.

This has happened many times, last being yesterday, but not this morning.

So a friend got knocked over (not kicked) by the horse and got a #sacrum and #pubic rami.
Post menopausal

BMD T-3.0 lumbar spine and T-2.7

Vit D good. Corrected Ca good
T4 good
Yearly Aclasta infusion started
I advised that alcohol is not good for osteoporosis. That was not a good idea 🤣

Also I suggested HRT

Before I get slammed for suggesting HRT, I recommend reading this:

With a Mother and sister with breast cancer it’s a very hard decision to take HRT or not. There’s always that “what if” in the back of your mind

When I went into hospital with a Jugular DVT the first thing the Doctors did was take off the patch. 🤬 I don't regret being on it.

A few months back went to the doctor because I had pain/swelling on the back of the head, just above the neck and behind the ears. Mainly on the right side but can be both sides. Not quite like a headache but more like pressure/inflammation.

Doctor prescribed Zatamil. Didn't think too much about it and I take it occasionally. The other day I was bored and checked Google. I can see why it's not having any effect. I think this one is a mis-diagnosis which leaves me with pain and not much of an explanation of what's causing the pain.

Just between you and me, IME HRT does all sorts of wonders for a post-menopause woman... ;):)

Now @JohnM you have me interested…..
Seeing thr orthopedic surgeon tomorrow morning and I have been told already that it is not going to be a suck out the rubbish that is in my knee workings.

Minding the year old granddaughter as she wasn't well enough to go to childcare. By that evening grandson had it, four hours later and Dad had it, 24 hours later and DIL had it, 12 hours later, me. Such fast transmission. It wasn't a cold but a chucky temperature one. Clever virus. Thankfully 24 hours later and all gone.

Nothing like sharing it around - generous poppet 🥰 Luckily you all seemed to get over it quickly.

When the first three went down, as I'd had dinner there she rang in a panic as she thought she'd poisoned us!
Interesting you should say that. The chap who died in Victoria was the son of long time friends of my parents. He would often call in to see Mum when he was in the town.

More interesting was ABC news showing a mushroom as one their prize photos. 😳.

But this awful story would have been playing on her mind. When she rang the two laddies were projectile vomiting so she was rather worried.
