Yes, many years and adjusted recently for the current issue.

Do they make male Skechers? some of their shoes have a slightly higher middle sole getting that rocker effect without looking like grandpa shoes.

I’ve bought a pair of what I think you mean as grandpa shoes .

But no matter what you get avoids the fact that the inflamed part is right on the ball of your foot which bears all or most of the pressure whenever you walk. Footwear and orthotics can redistribute the load a little bit but there’s no avoiding the main mechanical action of the foot.

What is the transferrin Saturation?
If both high then do a HFE gene test

If first 2 are high and HFE positive, you can join the club via the front door.

The back door entrance requirements:
Count Dracula likely will have acquired hemochromatosis. Im assuming @Buzzard does not have this issue, thalassemia or a chronic liver disease - say from too much Alcohol

You need 2 genes. Having just the one or t'other does not haemachromatosis make.

The most common cause of a high ferritin is inflammation so a chest infection will do it.
Yes Haemochromatosis needs to show a high iron and ferritin Saturation. Although comforting not to have an identified gene there are still occasional cases of haemochromatosis with negative gene testing. presumably due to so far undiscovered mutations or occasional rare ones that are not routinely tested.

Question for members who have previously undergone chemo treatment, you know who you are. Do you think chemo affected your drinking habits? After a couple of drinks now I have generally lost interest. I had a greater thirst prior to chemo.

Yes. Taste buds are hit by chemo from my second hand experience. Probably desire and taste will return in time as reported to me by friends.

I think there's a lot of medical conditions and subsequent treatments that impact taste. I'm on hydroxychloroquine 2 tablets which is incredibly bitter and also steroi_s. I'm not interested in food much because I realise I can't taste most of it anymore. Except bitter. Not even chocolate.

@Buzzard hope it’s resolved quickly. Probably best if it’s found now but then if nothing yippee too.

Each time one has a CT of chest n abdomen or others, There’s always something interesting. Had mine at start of BC diagnosis, ended up triggering a few other additional scan for liver etc. had a nuclear imaging of whole body bones, had to extra X-rays for interesting spots in my arm bones due to an area of extra thickness .

Probably if after the first few months it’s not from chemo but the other meds you’re still on?

It’s so different for everyone. I am a savoury person and love sweets if chocolate. I hated anything salty during that time. Sweet bbq sauce went well with almost everything. My theory was anything you liked tasted bad during chemo and it was true for me

Mine was so long ago now (30+ years) I honestly can't remember but these days I seem to be able to 'hold my liquor' much better than when I was younger (ie drink a lot more!). I know I was disappointed I didn't lose weight on chemo (as I thought that might be one upside) and actually put on weight which I have never lost.

That's the prednisone.
I put on 12kg and because my cholesterol meds clashed with chemo and so advised to stop taking them, my cholesterol shot up to 5. Back on Rosuvastatin so expect it to be back down soon. I have to loose weight otherwise I cannot travel because I am not buying a new wardrobe.

For the last few blood tests (monthly) I've had high neutrophils. Latest one shows a greater increase in neutrophils but also shows high WBC and low RBC. To my knowledge no infection. My Covid shot was a few days before. Likely cause?

Yeah the last one is a worry. Hopefully just inflammation but levels are down from Jan when PMR started. Still on steroi_s. Exercise? Any other signs with regards to Leukemia?

Nothing to worry unless your blood test report says abnormal appearance white cells.

I don't think they test appearance in a usual blood test?
