Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Hey everyone. I'm just having one of those moments.

If I can use the 5% discounted wish gift cards to buy the $88 cards.

And then use this $88 gift card to buy another $88 gift card and rinse and repeat. I only benefit credit points right?
And not make a 5‰ profit each time I rinse and repeat right?

Sorry maths isn't my strong point

Edit: actually I have had a rethink
There is no benefit whatsoever unless the expiry date is nearing.

Is this right?

I just for kicks tried to pay for a gift card with a gift card and it worked

That's how I interpret the T&Cs as well. You can only get one lot of bonus points per flybuys card so if you had many flybuys cards in the family, you could buy more gift cards. Seems good if you can use discounted Coles cards to purchase and get $10 back, albeit the VISA card has the $5.95 purchase fee. Might sneak a DJs card at 20% off then.

Just make sure that each family member has a separate account rather than a secondary card on the one account.

The current Coles EFTPOS system won't let you use an egiftcard to purchase a gift card regardless of the type of gift card you are purchasing.

Not sure 'myths' is my strong point either :)But I also don't get what youre asking. What points do you get using the EFTPOS card????

Indeed, the flybuys must be a separate account and not a secondary.
I haven't used Coles eGifts before as I have only purchased Coles Gift cards before. Good knowledge about the eGift card though as I'm sure many will have access to discounted Coles eGifts via AGL rewards and the like.

If you're buying WISH cards at 5% off and then using it to buy the $88 EFTPOS cards, really you're only paying $83.60 per card as it's as if you're getting a 5% discount with whatever you pay with your WISH cards. You are getting points with your CC rewards program in buying the initial WISH e/gift cards and then getting the EFTPOS cards at a discount. If you're buying the EFTPOS cards at no discount, then you're simply getting points and in many cases - helping make the minimum spend for bonus points. This is what many on here have been doing as detailed in the pages prior to this one.

I'm sorry it was a typo for maths

I assumed and read that you cannot buy a gc with a gc so when I did that tonight. I thought I might have unlocked a loophole.

Just throwing ideas out there

Today's the last day for the Perfect Gift cards without the activation fee.

I went to top up my e-gift card balance today and was surprised to get 5.25% rather than the usual 5%.

Not huge, but every little bit helps.

Not sure exactly what you are referring to but as of early Jan I purchased Coles Myer Group gcs at self serve use Coles egc. Admittedly I was holding my AMEX card when the operator approved the transaction and put $1 on it.... Then the balance of $500 from the egc paid for the rest (201 +300 CMG gcs)

If you are going to try using them at the PO, be a champion and don't do the exact $88 value to help avoid getting your LPO caught out if head office filters for $88 transactions.

The real problem is when you have like $0.02 or $0.23 left on the eftpos card what do you do? A bit weird saying I wanna pay $0.02 for this item with this card.
lol

lol

You use them at the self service checkouts at Coles, split payment, pay off 0.02 then 0.23 then the rest on your CC or GC or whatever else.
