Gift Cards at Supermarkets

You can buy virtual vcards at a lot of places this way though, you have to do the maths to see if it's worth it. There's info around in various threads on here on them but you can buy with Diners at 7-11 for example and use online

Has anyone updated the spreadsheet lately ?
Woolworths has 20% off iTunes cards this week :)

Are you only updating those WW stores on the spreadsheet? I have purchased Dick Smith cards at WW in Melbourne and noticed they're not on the list.

I have a question regarding points for gift cards.

I know you can't get points when you purchase WW/Wish cards, but if you purchase (for example) a $100 David Jones gift card from Woolworths (and swipe your Everyday Reward loyalty card), do you get 70 QFF points for the purchase as well as the 100 points on your Everyday Credit card?

I tried that a few weeks ago and the answer was a resounding 'no'. Also, don't ever change yr mind on a gift card when buying at WOW for say a DJs one, as they will not take it back - even if you have not used it of course..

That's strange - I bought $1000 worth of gift cards (Supercheap and Big W from memory) from a WOW store a few months back - got 970 QFF points for the EDR swipe, plus 3,000 Amex MR points paying for them with my Platinum Edge. I think I also got a decent sized fuel voucher too, good for another 500 QFF points or so at the next fill-up. Nice little earn for a five minute shopping trip :-)

I just bought $2000 of Coles gift cards for the olds shopping thru National Seniors and $1,000 of Woolies from RACWA this evening for a final saving of $123 (tax free)
National Seniors are way to slow and Coles cards don't work outside Coles so I look at it as a food parcel for the olds. They introduced a $19 credit card fee so it is much closer to a waste of time than ever before.
I paid all of these on Woolies EDRCC just to tease Woolies.

See if your employer participate in API Leisure & Lifestyle, which has no credit card fee and no shipping fee. That's where I get my gift cards from. Coles, Wish, JB Hi Fi, etc

Westfield $50 and $100 at Woolworths Northbridge. $5.95 load fee though... And they are Westfield only, not XS.

Thanks for the info. It seems the better deal for me then, is to get them through my employee benefits programme and pay the 1.5% credit card fee. It reduces the benefit to 3.5% but that's better than nothing and the postage is free.

I don't need an XS card as I'll be using them in store.

Also, I assume that I wouldn't earn EDR points on the purchase of a Westfield gift card?

I will be buying quite a few thousand dollars of Woolies Gift Cards for Christmas from their gift card division. That Woolies division needs an order of $8,000 of cards for $7600 as a minimum and they are lovely to deal with.
I think they still take Amex so that will be points city.

You should earn EDR on the purchase in Woolworths as you do on others (eg Myer).

If any of you have the Gold Entertainment Card you can buy Coles and Woolies gift cards through them.

Now that is pretty much why we don't bother supporting Coles and their associated businesses. $4.05 doesn't buy much these days but of course if they have a monopoly position in your area you could always drive past if you want real Qantas points.

FWIW, I bought a wish gift card for $250 yesterday at my local Woolies... and then walked right next door and purcahsed a nexus tablet from DSE for $249... all on my plat edge card! :)

Great! That was the reason I started this thread :D
