Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Does anyone have experience with Flight Centre gift cards from Big W?

I can't remember if I've seen them there. If so, what's the activation time?

My local Big W which is Macquarie Centre used to sell them, but they haven't had them in the gift card display stack for a few months now. I know activation is done straight away at Woolworths, not sure about Big W.

The FC gcs had disappeared from all our local WoW stores after the last offer (Dec 2015?) but recently I saw one of the stores had them again. Might be a case of asking the Big W manager about stocking them.

Activation - seems to be instant BUT if you buy a large number of them it speeds up the process for the TA to create a list of the numbers and pin in a file. They then copy the details and do a 'mass' or 'bulk' redemption which seemingly takes a minute or so.

If you are excel-wise then it can be very quick to create the numbers list - just try and buy consecutively numbered cards. That way at least 8-10 of the digits are the same - still have to enter another 6-9 unique numbers for each one plus the pin number.

Thank you both. I took a risk and bought $800 of big w e gift cards at 8% off. Went to local big w and found $75 fly buys cards plus 3.75 activation fee. Interestingly there was a sign that said "iTunes and gift cards cannot be purchased at self service checkouts". Perhaps a warning of things to come, but my purchase went through ok and I'm about to redeem with my agent.

Edit: I will use the excel method. I need to feed my addiction :)

I may be wrong, but I think purchasing any GC at a self-serve register is quite coughbersome for staff and is easier to perform at a manned check-out counter.

I dont find it a big problem and I frequently prefer self-serve such as when doing split shops for Local Champ, to hit a spend target or to maximise fruit WW$ discounts.

When the Coles Giftcard offer was on I felt a bit uncomfortable in the queue waiting the 10 seconds or so for them all to activate, holding up everyone behind

Interesting. I'll give it a go and see if it works.

Wish gift cards, for example, certainly require intervention. Pre-paid debit cards also do. Don't bother testing those. But as stated I had luck with FC gift cards today, although, I think my machine was broken and every time I scanned the item it insisted I hadn't placed it in the bagging area. So it required intervention every time anyway :)

But this is hardly the best value FC offer of all time so I don't think there's too much profit to be had here.

I must have missed something - what FC offer?

Yesterday using Velocity Amex purchased Coles e-gcs to purchase Coles pre-paid mcs to pay KMart Tyre & Auto for rego check and four new tyres.

So many different points at a discount - only another 35 cards to go...

Then on the way back bought $7 of petrol and $75 of BP gcs using two Amex cards under the spend $40 get $10 credit offer.

Productive effort all round.

Did you have the Kmart Tyre and Auto flybuys offer?

Guys

Just log into flybuys account. My balance now is 344,457 holy cough!!! Last week when bonus points posted it was around 185,000 something. And today the balance double! I checked transactions and all bonus points 1000 per giftcard has been awarded twice.
Anyone experience the same? I hope the error stays
