Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Agreed. I kind of regretted wondering about it on the forum, forgetting that the FB rep is much more engaged than others

From Wednesday, 2,000 points for $50 or more on Coles Mastercards (and a few other Gift Card types). Appears to be open to all - it's in the Coles Catalogue.

Only one per FB account, though :(

Purchased the card Wednesday evening, bonus points in my FB account today. Very quick - no waiting around like the Fathers Day promo.

Same.

How is it they can award the bonus points within 2 days for this promotion but not for earlier promotions like the Fathers Day offering which took 4 weeks to be credited.

With the announcement from Flybuys point to Velocity, Buying coles prepaid gift card from coles is no brainer. Current promo 15% bonus points too.

What method allows AMEX cards to buy the discounted C gcs or e-gcs?

Our one puts a surcharge on for Amex unfortunately.

Flybuys rep said no SCs though from giftcards including third party.

I am sure that some will be willing to do it with/without the status credits....

I'm planning to wait for closer to Nov 30 to do some more detailed analysis vs converting to EY.

I haven't tracked it down yet, but I think the pointshack site (or was it bus traveller?) did a ready reckoner within the last year to see whether it was worth booking before V changed the redemption tables for Etihad and then Etihad introduced the 'sector' surcharges for premium sectors..

I also use the pointhacks guide: Guide to using Etihad Guest miles for Aussie travellers

Ex PER there seem to be some sweet spots but I'm hoping Keith will do the maths for us - haven't had time to make a spreadsheet comparing all three yet :)

Hi guys,

I need a bit of an idiot's guide to gift cards here.

Say I want something in Myer worth $800.

I can buy Myer gift cards in Coles (eg using Platinum Edge) and load 3-4 of them to the max to total $800, getting 3 points per dollar spent on the Edge.

Main question is do Myer have to accept multiple gift cards for a single transaction? I'm from Ireland where one transaction per gift card is standard!

And are flybuy points/Etihad tier miles/Status credits awarded on the spend too?

Cheers.

Agree no problem with multiple.
I would choose to buy Myer GCs at WW using a 5% discount WISH card bought from places such as Cashrewards
Alternatively you could buy a Coles Group & Myer GC at Coles up to any amount and have more flexibility with any residual

The official response is that third party giftcards wont earn Status Credits. Will probably still earn flybuys at Coles but will not count toward target spend bonused
Giftcards fo not earn WW points any more

Multiple gift card are not a problem at Myer.

I'd suggest you obtained some 5%+ off WISH cards and wait until there is another sale on Myer gift cards at Woolworths and stock up then. These sales usually happen around once a month and mean that you can usually buy the Myer gift cards at around a 10% discount + use your discounted WISH card for around 15% off.

Gift cards do not earn status credits, but you may get other points depending upon where they are purchased.

Why are folks talking about earning of status credits when buying gift cards??? I'm seriously .

The new Velocity and Coles tie-up give 1 SC/ $100 coles/liquorland/first choice spend. Would be easier to rack up SCs if GCs were included

Can we then buy Coles group & Myer GCs at Myer and pay for them with our discounted Myer cards so we can spend them at a wider variety of stores?

I've heard reports that Myer stores won't let you do this. Is there such a thing as self checkout at Myer? I have to confess I haven't purchased anything in Myer for many years. My family used to go there for most of their department store shopping but I eventually discovered that Target and Kmart were cheaper for much the same quality, based on the products we wanted.

Last time I shopped at Myer it was very much a labour intensive assisted checkout, it always seems to be a slow process there.

I just bought one at Coles in Chisholm (ACT). Still at least half a dozen $50 ones and at least a dozen $100 ones.

Bondi Junction Coles has around a dozen $100 Coles MCs at the 3rd checkout. 5 other Coles to the south had zero but many dozens of $50. So after FB bonus you get $100 value for $95.

But only works for one purchase PER account (including linked cards).

I thought the offer was for $50 cards only but now see that it works for $50 or more-bother
