Gift Cards for everyday purchases to double points?

If it's a long period, you'll be forgoing interest on this money or that it could have been applied to a productive investment.

The problem with these schemes is the time value of money -- the devaluation effect from large upfront expenditure for future use.

Pretty much all wish cards are depleted before the credit card bill arrives, hence there is no cost for the "investment" for us...

How long will it take you to use $12K of cards?

As mentioned by cove, it is pretty easy to use $2k in wish cards on a monthly basis. For a situation like my family of five it is really easy...

Fuel per month ~$600
Groceries per month ~$600
Liquor per month ~400
Big W Spend per month ~$400

For us its a no brainer, I was sceptical at first when cove introduced me to the whole discounted wish card process, however after 1 month using wish cards it's pretty easy to adapt to, and there is a real saving which is good.

Sure some will say the saving is small, however it all counts and a dollar saved is a dollar earnt...!

Surprised no one has factored in the starthere cash back for Dan Murphys, at 5.5% used with click and collect payment via wish card, it's quite handy.

Done this before, hard to imagine they are making that much when you combine the two discounts together...

Has anyone got their cashback though? I purchased in early Dec or late Nov and it is apparently tracking a date of payment of March...

Markis10, have you had a credit applied from starthere yet...? Done a few purchases but no cash back as yet...

My WEDRCC Plat arrived today. I have a little transaction to do w' someone by paying them in gift cards. They have asked for supermarket cards. I may be able to foist my old EDR card on to them to use at the check-out too.

Plse adv in all these advanced calcs above, what my best strategy might be. NRMA does not sell Wish cards, so not sure where to get them for 5% off. All contributions gratefully read.

Come to ADL and borrow my raa card

Thanks Shintaro, I may have to. There are apparently people on ebay and gumtree who sell single vouchers. I let you know how that goes.

Be kind to WA and join RACWA as an affiliate member for $29 then go rac.com.au/wish This way would work as we allow that.

Cove could I join as an affiliate member but with my Vic address? and then order the Wish Cards on line

Yes no problem according to markis10. Your cards should arrive on Wednesday if you order them Sunday night with $1,000 limit per day for $950 on your point per dollar Visa or MasterCard.

With National Seniors the cards take a while to issue. It is a club so if you join and you are quite young you could use a parents age.
I am a member and I like their magazine.

Cove, in a slightly roundabout way I have just ordered nearly 2K worth of WOW Wish Cards to be sent rego mail.

The order has to be < 2K all up including the $2 rego post.

So, 4 x $500 and 1 x $100 minus the 5% discount plus rego post = $1997.00. I'll report on how long they take to arrive.

There's quite a few other offers on the Nat Seniors website for those w' means to access.

Usually takes 2 to 3 weeks for us in Perth.
i buy $2000 for $1902 mailed to our PO Box and use either WOW EDRCC or Citi Select Visa to get points.

Perhaps I am paranoid cove, but I would not be happy having them mailed.... Can't you pay and collect in person over there like you can here in ADL...?

2-3 weeks delivery is pathetic and disappointing. I'll need to be a lot more patient then.

shintaro: I don't know where they are located for pick up, but for $2 on the 2K purchase they are sent rego mail.
