Thank you for your wishes.
After my recent ski accident I had my shoulder operated on on Tuesday...
For the medicos:
I fractured a piece off the lower tuberosity of my right humerus and had a subscapularis repair with an overnight stay in hospital in Canberra - ouch! (thank goodness for MRIs & private health insurance;))
So, my arm will be in a sling for the next 6 weeks and not too sure when I will be able to walk at my usual pace with arms pumping!
Apologies to the Platinum Oners

Ouch Fifa!

Hope you get better soon!
We will see you in Melb for christmas anyway

i too have been letting the team down as i have been sitting in a lecture theatre for a week
Mind you i think that my above average day yesterday should count double as it was in 30 degree heat with 70% humidity !

id just like to report that bangkok airport id 6500 steps all around! just go out teh lounge and keep turning right
Off to Singapore airport to see how far that is!

C

Managed 5000 steps at Singapore before I decided the lounge was calling!
If only the lounge had been further away
:)

Best wishes for a speedy receovery, fifa. I'm sure the medico fraternity have a good idea what happened, it does sounds painful. Now if you could get that snowboarder...

Off to keep my averages high :D

Mini-challenge time again!

From 23-29 August, walk 100,000 steps to get another virtual trophy. That works out to approximately 14,500 steps per day.

Meanwhile, our team is at this Turkish terraces location that seems to be taking ages to pass!

I've niot been doing well
I'm sure my pedometer is broken! or at least it differs so wildly between days!

No real problem as I've lost both of them
!
Ill have to buy a new one tomorrow

PM me your address, I can mail you a spare if you'd like.

I broke my run of high steps yesterday as I was in a car most of the day, driving between clients on the Sunshine Coast. Got home at 8pm and collapsed in front of the TV - drained from the driving and a 12 hour day.

Back to it this morning. 9K already at 7am - a mild winters morning and an early rise (thanks kids!) :o :D - I think my younger dog enjoyed the longer walk...

Hope you all made the 100k target last week!

There is a mini-challenge coming up next weekend (Sept 8 and 9) where the target will be twice your personal best within one day. That's going to be quite tough!

A few days after that, GCC 2012 will be over.

Looks like the Platinum One team is in Zanzibar right now... a couple more locations away from location #100.

I think at least 4 of us made it on the Status Runners team. My main goal has been consistency - last year I was up and down like a yo-yo with my numbers, this year I have been forcing myself outside wherever possible, more playing with the kids, going to events where I can walk - even grocery shopping with the kids in the trolley...

We've also had some updated entries, so with two still slightly behind in their entries, we are closing the gap.

Hmm, next weekend will be difficult - my mums' 75th birthday celebrations on Sunday. Will have to be done on Saturday then. I can't see myself getting 50K+ steps and I'm not going to get silly trying - a new PB might be enough. For others, it might not be so bad - but what Saturday sports events can I organise??

Well the last few days have been pretty poor mainly due to work and my up-and-down health of the last week or so.

So today, with the last mini-challenge looming, I had to make an effort, both to get the target for the mini-challenge and to make up for some of the sins of the previous days.

I didn't get home until pretty late. I made it my mandate not to go home until I hit my target. Eventually, I just made double my average, no doubt helped by my poor step counts of the last days lowering my average. My feet are pretty sore - even though the momentum didn't let off, the end of the several hours I was out was a bit like a death march.

3 days to go for GCC 2012. :D

Yes, just 3 days. Do hope that some of the slower posters can catch up and get all their entries in.

For me, it's been a very good experience. In near perfect weather for most of the 16 weeks in Cairns, I've been a bit more measured and less obsessive than last year. I have stepped up the pace in the last few weeks to get to a milestone which I'll achieve later this morning. Yesterday was a great experience. We walked the Red Arrow which is a short but very steep track in the hills behind the airport at Cairns. I realised that walking on the flat is one thing but climbing and descending is another as the quads this morning are in recoil! It was topped off by a very good breakfast at the Botanic Gardens which completely counteracted any caloric benefit!

As Team Captain of the Status Runners, those sinners who have outstanding step entry have been reminded of the absolution granted with updating their steps.

I didn't get to my double average over the weekend - wasn't going to happen. I am happier that my average step count has been 5K higher than last year.

Can we believe it??? Ah, my trusty GCC step-o-meter (yes, pedometer to the initiated) will have to have a holiday now after all that hard work...

Congratulations Lindsay,

You did it! You have successfully completed the GCC 2012!

Today September 12 is the final day of the event and we want to firstly congratulate you on an incredible effort and thank you for being a part of helping us to Get The World Moving™.

GCC 2012 has broken all records, however the most important achievement is what you have done for your health and wellbeing. Some of these benefits you will be able to see (possibly in the mirror) and feel already, others while not immediately obvious, will continue to be of benefit for years to come.

For 112 days you have consciously changed your behaviours and now you have a whole load of shiny new habits – and they’re healthy ones!

You have until 11.59pm on Sunday September 16 to enter today's (and any missing) steps. You put in the work so make sure you get the reward (and help your workplace move up the Most Active Organisation table).

To the 4 team members from Status Runners who have some missing steps to enter, please heed the bolded line in the paragraph above.

Strange that I had forgotten that it was the last day - both kids coming for a sleep in the marital bed made me get up early (just no room or 4 bodies), so I had 30 minutes more walking this morning. Up to almost 17K now, with 2 games of indoor volleyball tonight....Hmmm, don't think I'll break my PB though :(

Same here.

Have no idea how much I clock up walking the wife, kids & two Fox Terriers around the neighbourhood - however, I do swim around 11km's a week....if that counts?

If you need numbers for next year - I'm happy to jump in the deep end.

Start training for next years' ;) :D
