Global Corporate Challenge 2012

I've had a couple of good days lately but today might be a challenge. Meeting this morning but I do have an hour later in the day, am next to Chermside Shopping Centre and have a WOW shop to do

Well the last couple of days haven't been good for me - mostly feeling a bit sick (but forced to soldier on) so moving around has been kept to a minimum. Still somehow scraped up just over 10k per day (but far less than the team average).

Hope I can work off this funk for next week. Another mini-challenge with a virtual trophy looms near.

Just a heads up scoop, people: tomorrow (i.e. 27/07/2012) is day 1 of a 4 day mini challenge for a virtual trophy:

Well as you may have noticed there’s a fairly large sporting event taking place shortly and it’s rightfully a global beacon for the joys of physical activity. Everywhere you turn TV’s, radios and newspapers are all focused on one thing – The GCC Mini Challenge – ‘Games Glory’ starting on July 27.

Over 4 days the GCC Crew are challenging you to complete a GCC Marathon. If you can travel a marathon distance (that’s 42.1km/26.2 miles) you will win yourself a virtual trophy for your cabinet. And as you may know, our new ‘Share to facebook/twitter’ function will give you the opportunity to share your monumental achievement with the world (tick that one off the bucket list!)

Whilst it may seem daunting, we think this Challenge is well within your grasp. The total steps you will need to achieve is 65,929, which when broken down becomes about 16,500 steps per day. Swimming and cycling steps will also be counted as part of the Mini Challenge!

Test your limits and go for Games Glory!

16,500 steps for 4 days is really going to stretch me, I know that!

I've been struggling the past few weeks. We've just hit an extremely busy time at work and have fallen behind on my 13k average. I've managed to get to 10,000 but barely breaking 11k.

I'll have to make a big effort this weekend to meet the mini-challenge!

Been at a Conference on the Gold Coast since Wednesday.

I had a good day Wednesday, walking dog + round of golf + sporting afternoon at Conference.

Yesterday wasn't as good, but I did my morning walk along the Esplanade foreshore and have got some lovely photos of sunrise:

Last day of the mini-challenge.

Friday - 10,768 (Slow Start)
Saturday - 18,734 (After a full day sitting at work a night on the town really boosts the step count)
Sunday - 21,407 (New PB, spent the day walking around Melbourne and looking in to some of the buildings participating in Open House)

That leaves 15,100 for today, I will make it but will just scrape through.

How's everyone else going with it??

I did about 20k, 20k then 18k yesterday, so barring me accidentally sitting on my butt and not doing much at all, I should easily make the 66k required to fulfill the challenge.

Also managed to just get my average above my team's average - just, but... yay!

Fantastic anat0l. Catching back up to the team average is my next challenge, currently lagging behind by about 1,000

You P1'ers need to slow down a bit. Too much walking might cause you some damage, you know.

My average will be dropping off a bit for a while :(

I was skiing on the weekend and got taken out by a snowboarder! (Ski Patrol didn't take long to arrive then it was 2 banana boat rides , then on a skidoo  and finally the skitube before arriving at the medical centre).
I've injured my shoulder and had a MRI in Canberra today. Back to the Perisher Medical Centre on Thursday to get the results.

Hopefully I will be on the mend quickly and back to my regular walks...

Hope you are on the mend soon fifa.

Yay - successfully received the latest virtual trophy from the recent mini-challenge! Did you all get the trophy too?

Sorry to hear about your mishap Fifa - really sucks when you are doing this challenge. Hope you are on the mend, and rapidly at that.

Bloody snowboarders! Get better soon fifa.

Don't think I made it, wasn't really keeping an eye on it.

Just cracked 1,000,000 personal steps! Yay!

Quite a few of you have probably done this too...

anat0l, looks like I beat you by a day. Surprised I haven't seen you out on the streets - depends on when and where you walk.

I had my 3rd best day yesterday, thought I would crack my PB but fell short by 3K. Today is much quieter, but tomorrow will be good - walking to/from the CBD (meeting at the Hilton) in addition to the normal morning walk and night-time run around chasing the kids to bed. Hopefully it's a lovely day like today :D

Well done to the members of Status Runners, who are almost completely up-to-date with their step entries. Not that I think we can beat Platinum Oners, but I'm not about to give up.

On weekdays I incorporate walking on the way from uni and to uni (not near home).

On weekends I have a few walking routes, but I tend to walk in the late afternoon / evening. I'm not the morning person for these things!
