btw I was not having a go at anyone booking (or trying to!) last night.. just had a funny thought about waiting till the last minute to do that school assignment type thing - which we ALL did I'm sure. Like I was saying human nature :) Of course there were many good reasons to wait - like leave approval, deciding on plans etc (the other day I was looking at the footy fixture to decide when I wanted to go for example ;) )

On a serious note - no surprise at website or call centre wait time melt down (even more than usual) .. the sad thing is QF will be counting the $$$ and not worrying so much about how truly bad it has been.

I mean the website has failed before and seemingly little done to improve it and the CC? Well... we all know how that's been handled.

I only made one DSC booking myself.. more for fun than anything else. I'm not chasing.. my attention is more elsewhere to be honest so I've more or less been popping the corn and watching.. but do feel for those who had so much trouble.

Just cancelled and took the refund. The customer service agent I spoke to suggested that they are considering honouring the deal for those people who booked this morning. No talk about extending another 48hours.

Well after all, they do have this policy

I'be just gone through pages 17-22 -odd of this thread where so many people were having problems with Qantas web site crashing etc etc, not being able to book, angst, frustration ...

Gift vouchers excepted, why on earth wouldn't you use a travel agent? So much time, angst, and perhaps, failure, vs a simple e-mail or call saying 'please do this' - and its sorted.

The TA I dealt with for 10 years (I now have another) charged no fees etc and even if they did charge, say, $30 or something, how does that compare with hours of your time, sweat and maybe not getting the booking you want?

I never asked, but I think that TA would have booked a GV for me as well.

Yes, like me, these school project/homework late-comers usually sat in the back row of the class room. The ones who were more studious and much better organised always sat in the front row near the teacher. :)

I suspect that you do not use FC. ;)

I did 3 bookings earlier in the offer (SYD-HNL-SYD, SYD-MEL-SYD and SYD-CBR-SYD), was going to buy a Vocuher yesterday but ran out of time. Now that the offer is extended might go ahead.

Is my understanding that purchased Vouchers (as opposed to those given as part of a cancellation) are valid for 3 years correct? So i fi buy $100 voucher today and then use it towards travel within the period of this promo, will I earn DSC on those flight (despte whatever $ i need to top up)? On the rare chance i dont fly anywhere else before Feb next year, the voucher will still be fine to use for up to 2 years beyond that right but without the DSC?

According to the T&C's the vouchers won't work unless there is a flight booked inside the booking period, but strange things can happen with QF IT.
Also the double status credits will not last for 3 years, it has to be within the travel period stated in the T&C's for your 'chance' to earn them,

Probably not; I don't know what FC is. :( Edit - oh, Flight Centre?? No, not them :)

But I did use a TA to book a number of DSC flights, all while I am enjoying myself in the USA, and taking advantage of a sale on one international sector. It took 3 e-mails. Sorted.

So, I can book a $100 voucher, use it for a $3000 flight in a month, and I get DSC for that entire flight?

I wonder how long it will be after the 28th before the DSC start coming through for flights flown. Maybe a week or two at first and then faster as time goes on?
