I love it how we are still talking DSC!
I think it will be interesting to see how it all pans out... over the next 12 months.
With their flying base decimated, I wonder if QF will promote things like DSC even more aggressively, or take the chance to reset? The current lounge situation, for example.... must cost them a fortune to run. Let's just say that domestic takes 6 months (at least) to return to even 50% (I am just making these numbers up but when you look at the number of codeshare flights QF operate with foreign carriers... they certainly will reduce capacity). So with a flying base of less than 50%, it won't make sense for them to operate all their lounges, and if they consolidate into a single Qantas Club, there are no perks for Plats. And no international travel means no First lounges either... so what exactly are they offering to the elite members? If they can't offer all that, people won't bother to attempt to attain the lofty heights of Plat or Plat1....
What do people reckon?
Also, Air New Zealand acquiring VA, operating a new Star Alliance airline..... anyone?
During the last couple of weeks before shutdown QF closed their QP and Chairman lounges consolidating everyone into the Business lounge which was a fair middle ground solution. This will probably be the case during first months of reopening until pax numbers get back to normal.
I’ll be very interested to see what they’ll do with Int F lounges. It seems 380s will remain grounded for a while which means no QF F in the forceable future.
Regarding VA, don’t mind who buys them as long as they eventually end up as member of Star Alliance
