Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Secured another FASA this arvo - LA to Canberra via Melbourne. Pretty quick process from Andrea on the platinum line. Had been transferred from another good / efficient operator on the service desk (David) who had helped with a membership issue. The booking done in about 10 minutes. 144,000 points, co-pay of $1016 - for travel in December. Co-pay seemed a little steep compared to other recent experiences posted on this site?? But this one has posted correctly so I'm happy. I'd still prefer online!

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I'd really love if a similar thread with bookings with AA in USA for SC Runs could be published rather than the cryptic posts which have been doing the rounds....I've never been good at cryptic games.

Booked 2 x JASA today JNB/BNE for Dec 14. It took rather a long time ( 45 mins ) as Tricia had never booked one before, even supervisor had to ring someone else. But they persisted until they had it right. Thank you Qantas.

96,000 x 2 plus co payment of $1127. ( taxes for Classic were about $600 ) All in all very pleasing. But oh how easy this was when we could do it online!

i can see your point, but the OP's usually spend a lot of time discovering these ( I know I did), and it is a long shot even calling them cryptic.

a tip >>> often the Cap first letters , might show you where your heading, Any Dummy can Locate =ADL

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just altered the date on a SYD-TSV return (booked just before Dec-31) for the end of this week.
First thing the operator said was - Oh this hasn't been ticketed.. (I noted that I hadn't yet received an email)

Changes were done within 4 minutes !! Had to do some override to allow a QF970/971 turnaround at TSV.
Operator then took another 8 minutes to check that it would be ticketed and it is now properly in the queue.

So - if you haven't got the ticket email from Qantas, call up!.
I suspect I saved myself some pain at the airport.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Optimal spot is basically all points, or min points plus cash depending on how many points you have and what value you put on them.

You are effectively charged about 1.1c/ pt on a sliding scale.
So I expect your award could have been 168k + $961

I hope she noted that the original was booked prior to Dec31 so you get the double SC's.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Same booking ref and date was noted. Will be chasing if I don't. Not my fault they took so long to ticket it

I booked a MEL-SYD return flight before Dec 31 for DSC promotion for travel in Jan. But then had to change one of the flights on Jan 2nd. Same Destination, just a day earlier on the way up. Does anyone know if I'll still be eligible for DSC's?

JMFK,
Am in same position. Should do as in normally promotions it is the original booking date that counts, so long as revised flight still meets criteria.

Guess I'll wait and see, would definately push nicely for them to be credited if they weren't. My only concern was I was issued with a new e-ticket the date I changed a flight...just thought I'd see if anyone else has had a similar experience!

Should be fine, as it is a change to an existing booking, not a new booking. The booking reference is the same I assume?

I have 2P and 2U classic award seats for SYD-LAX Dec 2014.
I was keen to book these quickly when they were released so did not try to book these as an ASA seats into P, U bucket.

does anyone have experience changing these classic award seats into ASA in P or U class.

perhaps this involve cancelling current classic P award booking, releasing it back into pool, then booking it as a ASA in P class....

Can a mod please move these posts to the discussion thread? Thanks.

Apologies JessicaTam,
Mods - Please also move the below when done (keeping it here for now for consistency)

The initial change to my ticket kept the same PNR - and I reallocated seats. However three hours later still no email with ticket number.
Have finally got an email, and points have been deducted (they hadn't previously)

However a different PNR on the email, yet the original PNR remains on MyBookings with seat selection.

When I use MMB on that new PNR I get a generic error that forwards back to the original PNR.
Anyone had this experience before?

I've got a JASA booked JFK-LAX-MEL. There is now P availability LAX-MEL. Does anyone know if I can change to FASA or I have to cancel and re-book (which may be more trouble than it's worth)?

In theory, you can pay the difference from JASA to FASA. It is an economical way to fly first. There are some here with successful experience.
