Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I've got a JASA booked JFK-LAX-MEL. There is now P availability LAX-MEL. Does anyone know if I can change to FASA or I have to cancel and re-book (which may be more trouble than it's worth)?

In theory, you can pay the difference from JASA to FASA. It is an economical way to fly first. There are some here with successful experience.

@moderators - please can you move these messages to the discussion thread and then delete this message :)?

Thanks but I don't want to use cash.

How can I explain?

I'm asking for a quote for: Z Class ASA, for November. Spoke with Peter from Brisbane call centre...

He kept on saying to me that we don't have enough points (88,000 each required), for with I do keep my cool (even though he tells me I'm yelling / this call is being recorded / if you don't cool down I will hang up / stop yelling (he eventually hung up on me!)

He says that We will be in 1st class from LA / Bris (or sydney?), then business class from Bris to Melb. (QF 108 / QF 429)

I ask him again, and ytell him thats not hat the website says (He has blocked off the 2 flights listed above, but they are still vacant...)

I ask him (merry go round time!) again, about Z CLASS ANY SEAT AWARD seats (I have 4 options I know about (Z class, being premium economy), he still says we don't have enough points (He seems to be quoting actual business class booking (U class), which he i correct of 88,000 points each...... Do I need to explain again? (stop yelling / let me speak / many people want ...... / this call is being recorded / final warning / I can only give you a quote for 1 person, as you don't have enough points / I will put you into economy then (for 77,000 points each...)....

FAR OUT?

Call lasted 16 minutes, 03 seconds (from the very start) which was made at 3.45pm.

Red Roo?

I also asked if he knew about ROQ 7740....

All I rang about was a quote(s) on the following:

Z Class Any Seat Awards from LAX - Melb (via syd or bris!) Minimum points (classic rate) is 144,000 in total, we have exactly 144,105 points (thus far!), with more points ariving when the next cc bill is issued!

Am I asking a strange question, am I not asking correctly? Am I being rude when I kept asking my request for quotes in regards to: Z Class ASA?

2nd call took 24 minutes, in which even though he was slow, he actually answered all my questions / quotes! :)

5 different quotes came with total costs between: $812.00 - $952.00, either via Bris, or Syd. 2nd call wasn't as hard as the 1st call!

Just goes to show that the HUACA technique is still required from time to time.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just booked 2 pax for BNE-TSV rtn with Ian. Plain sailing booking with no hitches.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just altered the date on a SYD-TSV return (booked just before Dec-31) for the end of this week.
First thing the operator said was - Oh this hasn't been ticketed.. (I noted that I hadn't yet received an email)

Changes were done within 4 minutes !! Had to do some override to allow a QF970/971 turnaround at TSV.
Operator then took another 8 minutes to check that it would be ticketed and it is now properly in the queue.

The initial change to my ticket kept the same PNR - and I reallocated seats. However three hours later still no email with ticket number.
Have finally got an email, and points have been deducted (they hadn't previously)

However a different PNR on the email, yet the original PNR remains on MyBookings with seat selection.
When I use MMB on that new PNR I get a generic error that forwards back to the original PNR.

Well as I suspected, it all went a bit wrong, with all 4 flights posting as Classic under one PNR, despite the points and cash component being deducted as Award under a different PNR.
Anyhow, lengthy email to QFF asking for it to be fixed - decided it was easier to lay it out clearly in an email versus being shunted from operator to operator.

I have 2P and 2U classic award seats for SYD-LAX Dec 2014.
I was keen to book these quickly when they were released so did not try to book these as an ASA seats into P, U bucket.

does anyone have experience changing these classic award seats into ASA in P or U class.

perhaps this involve cancelling current classic P award booking, releasing it back into pool, then booking it as a ASA in P class....

I scored a MEL LAX FASA a few weeks ago for Nov 2014.

I did not follow your line of thought "... Keen to book quickly.... So did not try to book as ASA..."

Did you mean you didn't want the hassle on the phone in case the seats are gone ?

I guess that is the risk for every Award seat.

My CSA was so good. She immediately held the seat for me while working out the details like QFF account PIN, CC etc....

How did I know?

Because when I refreshed the screen during the obligatory 'hold', the seat had disappeared causing me to panic a bit.

great get, great service. Well done to all

My fail to post was promptly corrected today with
correct points and SCs for the flights being manually posted as a "Points Adjustment",
along with Double Stats Credits promotion
and a Loyalty Bonus

Now only 110 SC off my July renewal

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I just did my third U-ASA over the phone. The first one was a trauma. The second was not too bad after a bit of initial confusion, but this most recent one was fantastic. The woman on the phone was quick, knowledgeable and helpful. A+

Perhaps I just got lucky, but there seems to be a definite trend of better training and knowledge of this product.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Another JASA SYD-BNE for October just booked.
The first plat line agent immediately handed me over to another agent.
At first was quoted a high points number but then he apologised as he had forgotten to deduct the phone booking fee.Co payment was ~$60 above the online figure for a straight classic award.Small price to pay as mrsdrron would without this end the year 30SCs from requalifying plat.

Jan 14 | Nov 14 | Z (a) + X (b) | LAXa - SYDb - MELB | 195,368 | $981.03 + CC fees ($1041.02 total) | Unknown | n/a | 100 SC

Is this one way or return? I'm assuming one way. It seems like quite a lot of points and dollars required. Above you'll see that someone else and I both booked a JASA LAX-MEL/SYD for 96k points and about $750 co-pay.

Did you book a regular ASA and not a mASA?

That is one way, for 2 people. Each were charged: 97,684 in points + $520.51c. co pay each.

Ahh. That makes a little more sense. I assume you elected to use more points than the minimum required (and less cash).

Totally correct in regards to using more points, compared to maby $30 or so extra in cash.

Was cheaper to get more points with shopping.
