Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Erica had a name change and was based in Brisbane. JohnM most of the girls in our Year3 class changed their names several times as they successfully completed marriages to make it very difficult to organize school reunions.
The new,new "Erica " breezed through 2 return tickets to get me 800 SCs so I am a few months (maybe twelve) in getting to Lifetime Gold so double SCs are helping.
After LTG I may credit to AA seeing I have Admirals Club thanks to a US Citi Executive credit card.

Indeed, but you may need to consider realigning your CC point/mile earn somewhat to ensure continued access to the odd mASA. :D

Wow, that was hard work! I wanted a return flight MEL-Darwin in June for work and saw availability in Classic Award Business. Wrote down flights etc and roughly what numbers to expect. Onto the phone for my first time ...

First call: Answered straight away, forgotten the name sorry. "You can do that via the website". I got about ten words into my explanation of what fare I meant then was hung up on, I assume accidentally.
Second call: Queue?! Four minutes, gave up.
Third call: Answered by Virginia straight away. Did not understand what I was looking for (I was saying Classic booked as ASA, and into U/Uniform class), said that I would be crazy to book an ASA. I referred her to Right on Q #7740 and that seemed to jolt her back in her seat. "Oh wow, in ten years I've never done one of these before." Very friendly though. She had to refer to her co-workers a couple of times, but in the end she got through the process like a champ and I have my tickets for 72,000 points plus about $500 co-pay. Earning will be 200SC (no DSC this time :() and about 10,000 points.

Over in a nerve-wracking 25 minutes, 19 of those in the call with Virginia.

Well done for not giving up... this makes it easier for the next person that wants to book one of these... Which reminds me, I need to use the xASA hotline shortly, sadly still waiting for my Christmas gift voucher bonus points to post :-(

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Hi Rourke,

I just booked a Darwin flight via Brisbane (Return) from Melbourne for the same amount of points, paid $546 and will be earning 280SC's.

Hi Rourke,

Bonus! Nice work. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my options in June school hols were a single flight via Sydney to get there and a single seat to get back.

That's a classic award, nothing to do with an ASA, xASA, JASA or even MASA...

If you want to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points & Status Credits then the booking you have will not provide... If you asked / requested an Any Seat Award booked into (U)niform class then I'd suggest you give them a call because it's not what you were given

i have re-rung and am told that it is booked as a JASA

I'm sure I won't be the only one here who is waiting to see what happens after the flight

Good luck :)

Newk, Luck is going to pay no part in that booking... Both you and me know this ;)

I don't need to wait to see what happens after that flight... I 99% sure its going to be something like this

+ A million
Do not take this flight and expect to chase up the SC. Your only "proof" will be that you booked a Classic Award by telephone  :!:

i have re-rung and am told that it is booked as a JASA

Coolumbla, there is considerable knowledge on this forum, and particularly in this thread, all pretty much of the same opinion. We had to sort of bully Cove until he rang back for the third time, to finally find out that his "JASA" had been booked as a classic. I can only suggest that you phone up yet again.

Failing that, please do let us know the outcome of the flight.

Such a shame that people have to go to such resorts to get one of these bookings.

Definitely more painful than the on-line version. However, lets not forget how many other FF schemes offer this type of award benefit - would that be zero?

Excellent result making a booking yesterday. Fast & efficient and appeared to know exactly what had to be done.....but I paid for their extra effort.

Eight minutes again on the phone today to get the 3500 pt Assistance Fee refunded.

Thanks for sharing your bitter-sweet experience. I've passed on your comments to the team. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
