Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

shintaro10x, the last xASA I booked showed "QANTAS & JETSTAR ANY SEAT AWARD 1 ADT REF" but the fare basis was "UBPACE" - Any clue what that fare basis means?
What was the route - normally the fare basis has some linkage as an acronym.

e.g. UBPASROW could be for U (booking Class) B(usiness) (P)? (A)ny (S)eat (R)eward (O)ne (W)ay

I don't think the 'OW' means One Way as I have a PER-SYD-PER showing as UBPASROW.

But my SYD-JNB-SYD shows as UBPASR.

The conclusion I reach from this is that DOM and INT are coded slightly differently around the 'OW' - but why I have no idea.

On closer examination that looks more likely - an ex AKL LAX return shows as UPBASR and an ex LAX-xbne-AKL one-way shows as UBPASROW.

SYD - LAX - SYD

Strange...I hope it was entered in the system correctly.

Re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points | Co-pay | credit-card? | Max points cost (if known) | SCs earned | Classic co-pay*

Feb 14| Aug 14| J | SYD-MEL-HBA-MEL-SYD | 63,000 | $540.53| $7.00 | Max? |160 SC| $254.78

That seems expensive! SYD-//-HBA should be 24kone way making 48K for the return.

Can someone give directions on where to check the fare details on my booking?
The info they refer to shows up in the line entry on your QFF activity statement.

I'm sure you're right, but I had a date imperative and wanted it locked down, so decided to go with the flow. I just need to make sure it was booked correctly once it appears in MMB. The woman on the other end knew what I was asking for (eg SC/Points) and that it couldn't be booked online. But there were very long periods of waiting while she consulted others, and I couldn't seem to get it down as far as I would like. But as a "special birthday" present it beats 8 x $600 and it also gets the SC to requalify PS.

Just pulled the booking up through the Manage Your Booking link on the QF front page and found that the first two flights are in "U" and the second two are "I"! The booking does not show up in my FF Account Bookings, presumably because the FF# is not recorded in the right field. Very confusing, looks like I will be back on the phone to sort it out!

I had that happen to me once, although I caught it on the phone before it was all finalised. Definitely call back and get it fixed. As you know, all flights should be in the U fare bucket.

An update:

Just called the Premium Desk and spoke to Emily?/Emma?/?? who knew exactly what I was after and quoted me a JASA multicity in about 7 minutes. It's a shame the co-payment was many 000's more than I was prepared to pay. She did give me some very useful tips and some ingenious routings that may save me $$.

Nice work.

So after using MMB to check and finding two legs were booked in "I" not "U", I rang back and got Femke who also said "oh, yes that is one of the bookings that can't be done online any more". And she immediately saw that it shouldn't be "I" and went away for a while, and came back to say one of the flights needed to change but that it was all sorted as an any seat award in "U". And by the way there will be a refund of $150 and 15K points.

So that brings it back to what Serfty suggested at 48K points and the dollars were $390.69 (x2). (Will update on the other thread).

I did call them and I have been assured that the @ is the new Any Seat. It was a first that it has been done this way. We will know next month if this is the new IT thingy.
I have a double SC offer so I will see if the same thing goes on our accounts.

I looked at my ASA as a U award and found the @[TABLE="class: basic, width: 760"]

I think you will need to look at cove's subsequent posts:
OK I will call them for a third answer on my son's booking.
Looks like the @ is nothing to do with a marginal any seat.

I am having the booking fixed this evening and it will be 17K additional points to get a real UBPASROW Marginal Any Seat on the same flight. Was 42K and now 59k and a bit.
Yes I was misled twice so forget the @ symbol and try to get Tasmania when you call 1 300 366 587 to do the booking.
My advice to others is to read the post when the points are deducted from your account and if it does not say Any Seat it has been handled incorrectly.

That's a classic award, nothing to do with an ASA, xASA, JASA or even MASA...

If you want to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points & Status Credits then the booking you have will not provide... If you asked / requested an Any Seat Award booked into (U)niform class then I'd suggest you give them a call because it's not what you were given

Agree that it won't earn SCs or points as is... but just curious as to how one would end up being charged such a weird number of points for a classic award? Does the "@" basically mean that points have been used in lieu of the classic award co-payment?

Mine said "QANTAS & JETSTAR ANY SEAT AWARD 1 ADT ".
