Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Equally had adjustments posting a few days afterwards for some domestic ones.

As a question for folks, I have a couple of international asa's left.

A FASA MEL-LHR and JASA HKG-SYD.
Vaguely remember one having a $300 cancel (?? Change) fee, and the other nothing, but have lost the pad I wrote it on.

Couple of questions - does this sound right - and is it cancel or change.
If I change flight dates - obviously need open classic seats, will I definitely still get sc and points. Would it be possible to route syd-mel-lhr

My recent domestic JASAs have taken between 3 and 5 days to post.

AFAIK, most ASAs to/from Asia had a $300 change and/or cancellation fee. No "fully flexible" option - those were mainly for LHR/LAX ASAs in my experience.

Changing flight dates at the classic award pricing level is not possible even if there is classic award availability, because those types of tickets (at those rates) aren't able to be issued any more - even if you have an existing PNR. They are now pricing them at "fare of the day", which PUZX buckets are not available. I tried to do that and got lucky so decided to keep the first change; I have a post in this thread if I am not mistaken from a few months ago....

So changing flight dates (and intermediate routing) is technically possible but you will be booked into a revenue bucket and charged accordingly. Because of that, then yes you will get SC and points as if you were booking a revenue ticket. Whether you want to pay for it is a different matter.

On the change/cancellation fee issue, $300 seems to be in the right ballpark. I found it hard to predict until I realised I needed to ask upon ticketing, and sometimes a JASA was changeable free-of-charge while there was a $300 fee on a FASA.

I posted on the "fare of the day" issue a while back after speaking to someone who very kindly went to great lengths to get me an answer. That advice stopped me booking more, which may have been the point :-)

But it's definitely still possible to change ASAs given Classic-bucket availability without paying extra cash. Or at least it has been as of November 7, November 28, and December 2.

Isn't the issue about whether it's a "revalidation" or a "reissue"? If a revalidation for a date change only, then there should be no problem as the e-ticket is not changed. A reissue will always be required for a routing change though.

Have people seen their SC's post on these MASA flights taken since June 2014 without having to chase QF?

I had 4 JASA flights in November, 3 posted as Classic award flights with no points or SC. Phoned QFF, after some time and checks with someone from "reservations", the agent confirmed they were "marginal" award and not "points" award flights (this terminology only confused me). The points and SC adjustments were made a few days later. The 4th JASA - which had not posted at all - posted correctly only after I made the online "claim missing points" application.

I've made changes (prior to Jul 14) to one of our FASA SYD-LHR we have next year - $300 was the fee.

I have made changes of date of travel on FASA ( a 6/15 flight to 9/15 for RWC). Only the change fee was applicable as P class classic was available at the time, so I gues this is a "Revalidate"

The Change/Cancel fees as best as I can recall are $150 for a change and $300 for a cancel ( could be the other way around??- need to check)

They won't apply on MASA ex USA or DXB, pretty much every other sector will get hit.

I concur about the using a MASA for a different sector new booking.

Eg I have a FASA SYD/LAX next June.

If I change to SYD/LHR then I get a new ticket (which is grandfathered for MASA SC etc) but depends on the available fare bucket for SYD/LHR.

I am told (but haven't tried it yet), if I made this SYD/LHR in "P Class" equivalent fare bucket availability, as long as this ticket is of equal or higher value then I can convert the FASA to this sector.

There maybe some extra cash to pay, but whether a Change/Cancel fee applies, I don;t know

Am going to test later today and report back

I have a few knowledgeable contacts at Hobart Call Centre to check with

Here's an example of a booking that was changed after March 28 being credited according to the original booking date rather than the revised ticketing date:

ADJUSTED EARN-BOOKING MADE BEFORE 29MAR14
QF xx_X DISCOUNT ECONOMY 30NOV14 SYDNEY/CANBERRA

Whoops, yes I was referring to a routing change which is a reissue.. I had LHR-MEL-SYD and a LHR-SYD opened up on a day I wanted but they couldn't do it.. even after speaking to a few supervisors.

However I did upfare both (return) JASAs to FASAs without any problem, go figure...

Decided to leave it and not bother about HUACA.. bird in the hand and all.

Hey Guys,

I flew my ASA the other day, now originally I booked J BNE-PER-KTA however because of Qantas and their lovely 5 different flight changes between when I booked and flew I ended up on a 717 Link flight as on Saturdays QF no longer offer a full service flight.

I'm going to ring tomorrow and chase my points/credits up however am I entitled to status credits for original booked class? as it was J all the way orignally and I didn't have a choice but move to a 717 without the originally booked service.

I did the exact same flight in July (JASA), booked J but then J withdrawn on PER-KTA leg. I ended up getting J status credits for the entire flight and exit row for PER-KTA return.

You may find they post automatically after a few days.

I'm doing a run to KTA on 28 Jan. still looks like I'm on 737. Hope it doesn't change also.

Don't you get a funny look when you disembark then reappear 30 minutes later

They are used to it. Some will even take your BP and scan it for you so you don't have to leave the aircraft. ;)

What?? and miss out on the lovely soon to be Karratha INTERNATIONAL airport??
You can go to the Qantas club, yes it has one about the size of your loungeroom, and mingle with all the FIFO's. (standing room only) Don't expect any coffee except out of the urn, only red is a jacobs creek merlot in a clear bottle, and light beer in cans. But, they do have Tim Tm biscuits. Oh and don't look for the priority boarding lane. See? How can you miss that by staying on the plane?
Karratha...living the dream!!!!
