Its still a right royal mess, pot luck n' go in the draw, sorry Q after two months of taking ASA's off line it still has cracks.

Cracks !!!!!! Perhaps Grand Canyon would be more apt in describing the state of ASA's

Maybe... ravine, canyon, cliff would suffice being ASA's on line.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Just got off the phone to book a FASA and a JASA.
Success :D
Identified a P class and U class seat online HKG-SYD
Called 1300 366 587 as per the email
Keyed in QFF number and call was diverted to Platinum desk
Advised operator that I wanted to book ASA's at classic award rates plus taxes.
20 minutes later and seats are booked.
Email in the inbox, seat 1A reserved

Not too stressful to be honest but it would be a lot less hassle to book online as before.
While I was on the phone I asked for a P release for the outbound JASA but sadly the computer said no :(

Success:)

Thanks to the Princesses words of instructions, I did read the post from Red Roo but couldn't find it this morning, so I found this post from the Princess.

Nothing as exciting as a FASA; mine was a JASA PER-MEL

Success 2.

Bit longer on the phone this time.

Another garden variety JASA BNE-PER 22-Feb-2014 QF767 39,000 points and $200 in cash,

All up it was going to be 59,303 points
I said wind it back,
they asked how much
$200 sounds good;
ok 39,000 points
yep book it. :)

This flight will see qualify for life time silver, and I would have qualified Gold for another year.

If someone could like my post so I could find the phone number again with instructions.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

did my first MASA today - no trouble getting the agent to understand what I wanted: "Any Seat Award in U Class" SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD in J

wanted 80k odd points initially but dialled back to 48k plus $347 tax - seemed a lot higher than the classic award taxes but given I'm using a DSC offer I wasn't going to complain...will requal me for WP :)

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I booked two ASAs in July and one got charged the 3,500 point assistance fee.
It wasn't mentioned at booking and I only noticed later when I logged on.
I tried to claim the fee back today and got told:

"Dear Mr Muppet,

Thank you for your email,(sic)

As the ability to make Anyseat(sic) bookings was withdrawn from the internet site on 14 Aug 2013 and your booking was made on 09 Jul 2013.(sic) The booking fee of 3500 points was charged correctly. We are unable to refund these points.

Kind regards.."

Might be a good idea to send red roo a quick message...

Well that is just plain wrong. MASAs were withdrawn from the web site on 26th June. Don't accept that response. If I were you, I would call up and explain to a CSR and get them to reverse the charges, rather than resorting the painfully slow process of waiting for email replies from QF.

Please send me a private message with the details as I'm very keen to follow up.

I know you're right. But I just hate dealing with the call centres.
I replied with the 26th June date and I'll see where it goes - then I'll call.

I mostly wanted to post how bad the grammar was. I'm definately not perfect, but in my work related communications I pay a bit of attention to detail.

EDIT: woops RedRoo is onto it, I didn't mean to get someone in trouble :S

Nobody will be in trouble, however this does need to be followed up if you've been given incorrect information. For me to do this, I will need your details. Please send these to me privately. :)

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Just booked a MASA in U Class KGI-PER. At $125 + 16K points which to me seems very reasonable and took little effort with the call center, however I have just received a receipt via email for a $35.00 booking fee. ?

enormous LOL....see above. But first of all try and call and have it reversed. Only speak to someone who knows what they are talking about. Quote the Q card number at them.
Failing that there is the ever faithful Red Roo

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I used my business CC so will have to get the missus to log into Westpac (I can't remember my logon) later and see what was charged. I thought it was a great price as economy is $360 and Business $690 on that flight.
Maybe its just a receipt and they didn't actually debit the $ as there was no mention of a booking fee. ie. automated.

This is disturbing Red Roo, thanks once again for following this up for our community.

Simply it is not good enough for an op to be charged a fee simply for following YOUR precise instructions. I think we all would agree that the sooner these masa's are put back online the better...

Sure it might cost a little more from the IT budget, but recently many of us here are rapidly losing faith in the Qantas product and implementation of how bookings are received.

Looking forward to a positive outcome soon, but sadly not holding my breath :(

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Oh dear, on the phone again. Yep not only was I charged a $35 booking fee but have been charged twice for the flight. I thought that was a Virgin only issue... Will update soon.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Spent three minutes on the phone with " Trisha " Acolades to her, She knew immediately that there should of been no booking fee, apologised re staff training and is having it reversed.
As far as the double charge I wont have an answer for 24Hrs although she believes its a pending charge which should disappear from the system as there is definately only one booking in the system. .It would suit me if there was a credit for a J class flight in the system though as only one points deduction was made. hint ..hint...

I'm glad Trisha sorted this out for you. Thanks for taking the time to follow up. If you get a moment, please send me a private message with your booking details for my reference.
