re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

OK, 0/4 and more than an hour and a half on the phone (thank god for speaker phone).... No luck at all

Can't waste any more time today sorry Red Roo, bookings that can wait I shall call and try again later, but I'm not at all hopeful since clearly its something Qantas no longer want us to do. Flights that must be booked today will be cash fares with Virgin... I'm going to use my Virgin Global Wallet™ card too, since its the only card I have that will credit to points to VA. Yes their product is inferior to Qantas (at the moment), No they don't have status earning on ASA's (however after this mornings efforts Qantas no longer freely offer this either). I'm prepared to give them a chance...Nothing to lose really as I see it.

I really cant understand why Qantas does not just come out and be honest, most companies have methods to measure performance & training, Qantas clearly do not, I do respect & appreciate your participation here Red Roo, but honestly you are quickly losing credibility amongst a valuable portion of your customer base (AFF Members)...

Perhaps less comment is best Red Roo, clearly your opinion of what should be happening is not, and your credibility is suffering. Time will tell if this "head in the sand" approach was a good idea, however for today, you lost some revenue to your competition.

I'd like an opportunity to personally follow up with you about your experience today. Please send me a private message with your details as reference.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

ARRRRGGHGGHHHHHH! Tried again. "This is only new", "there is a booking fee" and then Guy (very nice fellow) calculated at the Points Plus Pay Rate. So far this is NOT working for me. Just how many people work in the Qantas centre? I have had a different person each time and so far not one successful booking out of 6 calls. Not one of them has any idea about the 'call-up cheap xASA method' and when I have mentioned Right on Q 7740 I've been met with surprise that I have been given inside knowledge

after 20 minutes...."Guy" now insists x 3 times, that this CAN be done on-line and his supervisor is there willing to help and he wants to walk me through it. I have given up.

So don't give up, Shintaro10x - it can work!

Maybe it works for some.....but it most definitely doesn't work for me

I agree 100% with your frustration... My experience was exactly the same this morning.... only I gave up after 4 calls. Admire your persistence making 6

Edit: if you average 20 min per call, then between you and me, we spent a total of 3 hours on the phone with nothing to show for it :(

Given that Red Roo had expressly asked for leads, I'd suggest we PM RR with the details of any non-success incl. name, date & time so that those hapless CSRs could be "brought up to (AFF) speed".

Have edited my post to include the name of the CSR. I finally got a bit frustrated to be told 3 times that he would walk me through it so I can do it myself on-line. His supervisor has also told him that it can be done on-line. He also wanted to know who told me that it can't be done on-line?

as the dial up method lottery continues...

and its only been 3 months

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

...Just had a call from Guy. He still insists that I can book this on-line. All I have to do is go to Select Your Fare (Business Class), then click on the 'View in Points', choose the flights (under the heading - Classic Award). He maintains I will get SC's and Points if I book it that way. I said about 7 times that it is Classic Award and I won't get SC's or Points. He continued to insist that if you book it that way, you still get SC's and Points, and his supervisor Chris also says if booked that way, you get points and SC's.

I must be mental as I've just phoned again. I spoke to Betty (had never heard of doing this) and she initially wanted to book me a Classic Award. However, I explained what I wanted and within 3 minutes I had the seats. 4 x times the co-payment of the Classic Award, but I'm reasonably happy to have finally had success

ALH

Please keep in mind this page ready to refer those witless souls for their benefits.

  1. From 26 June 2013 Any Seat Award bookings made on Qantas marketed and operated in reservation classes X, Z, U or P cannot be made online at qantas.com. To make an Any Seat Award booking in these classes please call 1300 366 587 (dial in +61 2 8222 2430 from outside Australia). In most cases the points required for Any Seat Awards booked in these classes are higher than those required for a Classic Award in the same class of travel on the same flight.

Red Roo

How long is it going to take for us to be able to book these things with out all of the headaches and issues that people are having? As others have said it has now been 3 months since the launch of the website and the demise of our ability to book online MASA.

The new website has lost much of the functionality siuch as being able to see both Y and J on Domestic bookings, The colours used to indicate the class of travel when looking for award flights when selecting flexibale dates is awful, change one thing in the search and it throws away all you have input, the list goes on and on and on.

Why oh why is it so damn difficult to build and launch a website that works? People do this every day with out hiccup all around the world.

3 Months of cough website and lost functionality and no end in site stinks of cheapskate and amatuers.

WHEN CAN WE HAVE A FULLY FUNCTIONING WEBSISTE !!!!!!!!!

And QF wonders why its loosing money, perhaps if people could book what they want with out all these issues then QF may do better GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Glad you're a happy camper.

Now Red Roo what about all the rest of us who are still getting "you can do it online" B/S from so many of the Qantas phone agents?

SUGGESTION: How about we all just PM Red Roo with our individual MASA requests (having checked Classic availability), and Red Roo can arrange them and then PM us with the booking ref and cost and we can THEN phone and simply make the payment against that booking ref?

How about it?

Or maybe the "talented" QF management can do their job and manage their staff?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

FAIL again this evening . . . but I have a query as I am no expert.

So I have been searching for LHR-SYD MASA tickets for mid-July 2014 with no luck for about a week now. I have been searching other options and this evening managed to find classic awards online for LHR-HKG-PER on BA25 (or BA27) followed by CX137. Straight on to the phone and spoke to Mary who told me initially to book online until I explained if I could do that I would be doing it. I gave Mary flight details as per the above and she went away for 5 minutes, putting me on hold whilst she had a chat with her neighbour in the call centre. Mary informed me that she could only do this as a classic award as a MASA must have a QF sector. Is this correct? Given there was classic award availability I thought this automatically meant MASA could be booked?

15 minute call with 8 minutes on hold and not an awful lot of sense. I took a screenshot of the flight info as this was literally the only classic award I was able to find between the UK and Australia within +/- 2 days of my ideal departure date.

After an initial 100% strike rate in my first 2 bookings of a MASA, it has been 0% in my last 3 attempts. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Yes Mary is correct. MASA must be on QF or JQ

I'm confused. Your post ( bordering on the obsequious ) is praising QF for finally getting right something that is ( should be ) a standard service standard.
Does this stomach churning praise for finally getting it right Annoy anyone else?
Do you get ( or expect to get) OTT praise for doing properly the job you are paid to do ?

Chill. It is well recognised that the best customer experiences are when a company retrieves the situation for an angry customer. That is what Shintaro has just experienced. It is perfectly understandable that he is over the moon about the QFF response.

It is an entirely separate issue that the company may still go on to p... off people in exactly the same way.

And for the moment let QFF, Red Roo and Shintaro bask in the dispute resolution

Bollocks. This is not an isolated instance. It is an ongoing annoying and insidious cancer that needs to be sorted now .
Once is a mistake twice is a coincidence 3 times is a conspiracy.
This has dragged on for long enough. Someone needs to stand up and be counted.
Methinks it won't be QF.

Actually, in this case the QF CSRs were correct. 'View in points' is the points cost of a cash fare which would earn points and SCs. The Classic Award is a separate column on the booking page.

Of course, 'View in points' is NOT a xASA as we AFFers know it!
