Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Absolutely! That happened to me a week ago. I pm'd Red Roo, who got another CSR to call me and 'fix' the problem. The classic award was cancelled and a JASA listed in my activity statement.

I used the JASA today, and the first sector has been listed in my activity statement - as a classic - 0 SC and 0 pts!

I am not happy! Just waiting for the other sectors to list. Don't suppose the DSC will list either.

Yet more time waisting on the MASA hotline sorting out something that only 5 months was easily bookable online, the mind boggles whoever thought of this mess :mad:

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

My travel is 11 months away, but I'd like it fixed now. Every chance the whole concept of xASAs is dead by then. I can't get over how frustrating things have been in the last few months - wondering what the point of being WP1 is. I'll try and rectify tomorrow. Thanks to all here at least for quick advice and feedback.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Thanks. I do recall time and first name of the operator. Still shows as U and P class in MMB; but I will call in the morning.

Would have been better to call the same day as qantas have a same day mistake guarantee. Basically they'll fix any mistake for free on the same day.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

12 minutes on the phone with Andrea, who had not done of these before and needed a bit of coaching as she had been away for a month. At one point she was sure that as I had a U booking one way, the return had to be a revenue fare. I encouraged her to check, and she was soon set right.

Anyway, 64,000 points $592.98 for CBR-SYD-HBA-SYD-CBR for 2 pax.

P.S. I forgot to make sure there was no booking fee/pts charged so will have to wait until the points are deducted to check.

Update: 3,500 points x2 has been charged "Award Assistance Fee". Gail will try to work out how to reverse it, and if she can't then will pass it on to FF to make sure it happens tomorrow.
Reversal came through this morning (2x 3500) with no further intervention by me. :)

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

My JASA debacle now appears to have been sorted out with ADL MEL BNE TSV BNE SYD ADL now substituted for ADL BNE TSV return at 48,000 points + copay and correctly appearing as a JASA in MMB. Fingers crossed for the execution of the op.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I just called the Platinum line for some re-assurance on my booking. A JASA / PASA to Los Angeles; ticketed several days late, showing up in MMB as U class and P class; but points deducted on my statement as "Classic Award deduction".

The operator assured me it was booked as an Any Seat Award. Will earn status credits (put me on hold to confirm). Charge is the co-payment told over the phone (144,000 points and $960 - despite ticket saying Payable Amount is $2100).

Travel is many months away, but I think this is OK. Grateful for any advice if anyone thinks otherwise? I assume U and P class always earn points (the classics awards are a different fare type)?

Thanks.

I find that unacceptable. Classic awards use the U and P fares classes. That is kinda the point, any seat awards are being booked using classic award fare classes.

All of my mASA booking points deductions appear as "Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award 1 ADT Ref - [booking reference]" in my activity statement. It might work out fine once you fly, but if it says classic award in your activity statement you have nothing to support a claim for being any seat awards if points don't appear in the end.

no U and P class are used for classic and partner awards too!

Thank goodness for the great advice on this forum. I will seek written confirmation through the P1 team.

Good luck but based on other peoples experience they normaly fix it up pretty quick. Sugest that you alos PM Red Roo to be sure to be sure :D

So even when one may think an xASA has been booked, the whole thing reverted to a classic award. Two CSRs had a go at this, with input from Red Roo. What confidence can we have in the CSR process.

The online system worked well. Why fix something if it ain't broke? (I know this doesn't apply to a/c maintenance).

So it seems that the CSR's are going to get very busy fixing this up very soon then with all the DSC runs about to be done by so many.

Qantas please give us back online booking capability and stop all of this stupid waste of peoples time and resources Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This is a prime example of why you want the deduction to say any seat award. It provides your evidence when you ring to get a manual adjustment to the points and SC.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Not sure if it is related. A JASA from a year ago, and another one from earlier this year prior to xASApocalypse* says this in the e-Ticket:
===
GST is included for taxable sales
ANY SEAT REWARD | Partial payment by
CUSTOMER
GST Paid 0.00
===
QF Any Seat Award conditions apply - Change/Refund QF only.
===

The one that I get recently by phone says:
===
Qantas AWARD| Partial payment by
CUSTOMER
GST is included for taxable sales
GST Paid 0.00
===
Qantas Award conditions apply - Change/Refund QF only.
===

You really would want at least the account statement to be correct, otherwise when it comes to trouble there's no proof of it being an xASA. Given the discrepancy in the e-Ticket I won't be surprised if this one won't post correctly. Can anyone else who booked recently check their e-Ticket too?

And yet, someone, somewhere, thought this mess is a good idea.

*xASApocalypse : the point where the new system/website was introduced and all this mess started.

Both that I booked yesterday say the same "Qantas Award" on the e-ticket document. Freaked me out enough to get out of bed and check the activity statement, late last night.

I noticed they were also getting me to agree to some conditions about no changes and such when booking. Perhaps stupidly I didn't say I'll be guided by the published T&Cs over whatever they were saying.
