Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Successful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Sounds like you paid the right amount of points and $ for the fare. What does your activity statement say?

I checked my activity statement this morning and nothing yet but itinerary is accessible

Looks like it hasn't been ticketed yet. I suggest calling in on Monday if it hasn't been ticketed by then (you'll get an email with the e-Ticket), otherwise past July 1st it may become problematic (or not, I don't know).

Re: Successful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I booked my last MASA last weekend. LHR - SYD for Mrs Rugby and I. I was stalking J for a couple of weeks, but there was just no availability. But last Friday night I managed to get 2 FASAs. I didn't want to spend the extra points, but what the hell, we might as well go out in style :)

Re: Successful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Quick question on mASAs.

I scoped out availability SYD-PER, and I can book SYD-xMEL-PER and return for 72,000 as a Classic Award.
Tried to book the same flights as a mASA, and am being quoted 104,000 minimum points (seems like SYD-MEL return plus MEL-PER return). Is that the correct figure? or should it be 72k points if utilising the indirect flight options shown on the QF website? Whenever I've booked an indirect flight before (e.g. SIN-xBNE-SYD), it's always been the same points cost as the direct flight.

TIA

Believe it depends on whether the fare rules allow the indirect routing, which I suspect catches you out on the Syd-Per

Could be - would the Classic and mASA fare rules be the same (for U class)? There are classic award seats available on the indirect flights for 72K points return.

Agreed. You used to be able to book xASAs this way, but where a direct route exists you now get penalised if taking an indirect route that is not allowed by the fare rules.

It's not so much the fare rules in this case as the difference in how Classic and mASA points requirements are calculated (distance flown vs. point-to-point).

The point-to-point requirement needs a fare to exist permitting that routing, whereas with a Classic, SYD-MEL + MEL-PER isn't too much of an increase relative to SYD-PER to move you up from 36,000 to 50,000 points.

Looking at D, C, and J I get:

PUBLISHED RTG SYD-PER

/WITHIN THE EASTERN HEMISPHERE/
TRAVEL MUST BE NONSTOP OR DIRECT

Appreciate the answer. I called QF again, and after about 20 minutes they came back and said they aren't sure how this should be priced, and will require the FF people to answer, which won't be until Monday.

Anyone have recommendations for the best value mASA day-trip Ex-SYD if SYD-PER isn't particularly viable?

[FONT=arial, sans, sans-serif]SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD used to get a fair bit of loving. Should get you 160 SCs (same as SYD-PER) for fewer points (48,000).

Grabbed F MEL-LHR for late-May 2015 today. Call started at 2:13pm, ticket had arrived in inbox by 2:38pm. Magic "ANY SEAT AWARD" words have appeared against my activity statement. Agent in Hobart was very competent and had no trouble. I've been out of MEL on QF9 once before, so was hoping to go from SYD, but alas, the P fare available from SYD-LHR was a week later, which would've been too late for the tennis in Paris. (I can still see the SYD-LHR P class there.. 1 x P on Wed 03-Jun-2015 if anyone wants it).

Change fee $150; No show fee $300; Cancellation fee $300 (fully refundable points and taxes); can put to Credit for 12 months and then will be $150 change fee plus fare difference.

All round a pain-free experience compared to my first attempt at booking a MASA since the over-the-phone-only changes. Such a shame we have to wave goodbye.

Question for all.

I will probably attending a wedding in SIN around JUL/AUG 2015 with final dates TBA. Can I book a JASA now with a guess at the dates and simply change the dates of travel once the wedding has been confirmed?

Thanks in advance.

You can't book that far ahead yet, but in theory you should be able to book a placeholder JASA for (say) next June and then change the dates later, subject to U availability on the new dates.

(Be sure to ask at the time of booking regarding change and cancellation fees, if any.)

Yes that is what I had in mind but thought I would ask this knowledge base before speaking to the call centre.

Thanks

LOL have found a MASA replacement for a SYD-SIN BA F classic I've got booked for Oct. Trouble is; it's a morning flight and SWMBO won't hear a word about dropping down to J and swapping a SYD Flounge lunch for breakfast....

I really enjoy the breakfast - poached egg with smoked salmon and a couple of glasses of bubbly is a nice way to start the day ....

Just attempted to book a bog-standard domestic JASA. Operator knew exactly what to do.

BUT ...

U class available ... all fine. Was able to bring points down to classic levels. Co-pay seemed fine.

Blam ... when I asked about cancellation ... the operator even went and checked with a supervisor ... $300 fee to cancel

We then tried another route ... again $300 fee to cancel ... we tried direct & indirect, cancel fee appeared.

Yes the operator confirmed that even though business class, they had this any seat cancellation fee.
There was even a note saying that this condition needed to be read out to the pax at time of booking.

May be just double check your domestic cancel policy before finalising the booking.

I'll try again later.

The operator did advise that these fares can't book as at 1st July.

Hello,
Am a bit confused re the new status credits table. Looking maybe Adel to Cairns - new table says earns 60sc for Business. But as only Jetstar fly direct can only go via Syd or Bris - so is this still calculated each sector ie 100 scs via Syd or 120 via Bris?
Thanks

It is still calculated per sector (as long as the flight numbers are different).
