Mine was quoted as "fully flexible, refundable, blah blah blah". Yet it still ticket like this.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Points and cash debited as expected...no eticket as yet....not too worried, if not ticketed in a few days wiill give the Plat desk a buzz to sort out.
Got eticket today but not before a strange call from QF this am saying my credit card payment had been declined:shock:...I pointed out that I had paid with a MC debit card, and the amount had already been deducted from my savings account...the phone went quiet, she said she will check and call me back which she did 10 minutes later to say it was all fine now and the eticket would be issued:confused:

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

yeah my e-ticket's dont mention anyseat award either but anyseat award appears on account statement. Plus the price paid with the large co-pay should indicate it as being an anyseat award rather than a classic

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I just spoke to the wonderful Jenny, who sorted out a BNE-MEL-PER-KTA-PER-SYD-BNE for me. She was hesitant at first and said it could definitely be booked on the website, but after a quick check with a supervisor she persevered - then it was all smooth sailing. All up 20 minutes on the phone.

Whilst Jenny was superb, I have to say - it's taken in excess of 16 hours of my time to find an available itinerary that got me just the right amount of miles/SC at an acceptable spend rate. Where in the past it was a 20 minute execise to shop around on the website, I now have to verify routing rules in ExpertFlyer, find available inventory (easiest in EF), confirm availability on the website, then call up to find out how much it's going to cost me. If it's more than expected, rinse and repeat. I don't see how this is sustainable. WP had better be worth it...

Also managed to confirm that there are no change or cancellation fees, and overheard Jenny's colleague confirm that "no, there aren't any booking fees because they can't book these online".

A big thanks to everyone on here who was able to highlight the importance of fare routing rules. If anyone else has a city pair they need looked up, PM me and I'll plug them into EF.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Not sure if it is related. A JASA from a year ago, and another one from earlier this year prior to xASApocalypse* says this in the e-Ticket:
===
GST is included for taxable sales
ANY SEAT REWARD | Partial payment by
CUSTOMER
GST Paid 0.00
===
QF Any Seat Award conditions apply - Change/Refund QF only.
===

The one that I get recently by phone says:
===
Qantas AWARD| Partial payment by
CUSTOMER
GST is included for taxable sales
GST Paid 0.00
===
Qantas Award conditions apply - Change/Refund QF only.
===

You really would want at least the account statement to be correct, otherwise when it comes to trouble there's no proof of it being an xASA. Given the discrepancy in the e-Ticket I won't be surprised if this one won't post correctly. Can anyone else who booked recently check their e-Ticket too?

And yet, someone, somewhere, thought this mess is a good idea.

*xASApocalypse : the point where the new system/website was introduced and all this mess started.

It's OK, all good. E-tickets now seem to have the latter format but I can confirm points and SCs posted OK from a JASA today.

It looks like the only reference to "any seat award" now is in the activity statement so it is absolutely VITAL to check that it appears there.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I've had people say that to me over the years...

Time to do another mJASA as my points balance is climbing :D

A question QF WP, OT I know, but how did you "Reply With Quote" (mine) and insert a link to the attachment rather than show the attachment as part of your message? Feel free to PM so we don't hijack this thread.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

So... I queried the Plat One team and have received a reply assuring me the flights are booked as ASAs, and that I will receive points /credits etc. The status on my activity statement will be looked into. I am happy to have written confirmation at least, to fall back on if points don't post. I might try and get the statement adjusted as well, given the advice from everyone here today.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I previously called and spoke to John who provided a BNE-KTA quote on Monday. He was a dead set wizard and would have booked my routing in less than 5min. I followed up today and spoke to Yuki from MEL who wasn't as quick but extremely pleasant and helpful regardless. I like a person who advises up front that they are a nb. I offered the ROQ 7740 and she was all over it. Yuki said it was her second such booking and ok it was a bit longer but we had a great laugh during the booking process. For me that mitigated any delay and was overall a feel good experience. Red Roo props to Yuki for having a crack so please pass on the feedback.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

JAN 13 | J | BNE-MEL-PER-KTA-PER-SYD-BNE | 72,000 | $598.67 + $7 | 380

I looked at doing this myself, from Perth, PER to BME, PHE or KTA return, with BME, PHE or KTA to PER MEL BNE return in the middle. 400 x 2 SC's are not bad!

Searching for this as a classic award, it's coming up as 100,000 for me.
Does this just mean certain buckets are sold out?

Not necessarily. Classics are priced per sector, whereas a JASA 'should' be priced closer to the actual origin-destination distance.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Searching for this as a classic award, it's coming up as 100,000 for me.

When searching for classic awards BNE-KTA I didn't see a single one (searching almost every single day between now and Jan 31) that came in at under 100,000. However when you call up and are asked to nominate a point spend, 72,000 doesn't seem to be a problem. I didn't ask if 72,000 was the minimum - it's just what I was happy to spend.

Edit: Sorry, wrong thread. Can this be moved to the discussion thread?

I noted that this same problem was already occurring on 22-Nov, see thread #1534 on page 154. It was known to Qantas before that stage. Obviously it's still occurring weeks later. Surely it can't be an 'enhancement' that is being tested and it's accidently gone live!!!

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I posted this elsewhere but I had to telephone this week for a manual adjustment on a JASA (SYD-MEL-HKG) which posted incorrectly as a Classic Award with zero points and SC.
FWIW the JASA was booked online one year ago.

Where on EF do I need to look? I had a poke around yesterday for a bit but nothing caught my eye.

The Fare Information tab is what you're after, but it's limited to premium subscribers: Frequent Flyer Information Plans | Flight Services

If you have a subscription and can get to Fare Information, fill in as much as you can (you don't need to use the advanced options) and click Search. I found that the closest equivalent commercial fares tended to be DBIZ (by doing a "view source" on the booking page back on the Qantas website), but I'm not sure how QF determines which fare basis applies to an ASA. Of the three icons to the right, the middle one will display routing rules.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Can anyone report on the success of cancelling a domestic JASA and immediately rebooking it, to take advantage of the DSC offer, and not loosing the award seats?

I currently have a trip to MEL booked for Jan and there are no award seats showing on the flights I have so I'm hoping they can be cancelled and rebooked before someone else snaffles them.
