Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

Mine arrived in this morning's mail too. Not sure if I will activate it yet.

Can't see me using it. I get more points and days credit on all of the CC that I've got. You definitely wouldn't use this for any local purchases!

If you have CC - why would you use it? Serious Q.....am I missing something?

It'll be useful for me for purchases where I can't use my Amex...

Perhaps overseas to avoid the fees and charges on a credit card?

True the fees can rack up. I'm a hoarder of points so don't mind paying a fee to earn points.......when OS I like to use a card that pays 2p/$ for foreign spend.

If they paid a better point return I'd use it......but 1p/2$ spend (local) is kinda rubbish.

Mine arrived in the mail today, have to say I'm not a fan :(
I liked the red edges, and colour of the old card, new card is black with a flat Roo, and the words "Member Since" replaced with "Joined" and "Valid End" with the standard CC "Expiry". Also noticed that the worldwide telephone number for the premium desk is different, don't know whether to update my contacts or not

Just received mine, complete with the vinyl iPad cover.
Don't like the P1 cards, white was never going to be a good choice. And the wavy pattern makes the numbers on the card very hard to read.
The white coasters will go in the bedside table draw with the platinum ones.
I do like the fact that you can actually read the Platinum One text on the card now :)

I agree with you... more points... 30-55 days to pay for the transaction, more consumer protection rights, extended warranties... there are a lot of pluses for using a credit card over a cash debit card.
For overseas - well the 1-3% intl fee is consistent with major bank credit cards and you get all the other benefits of CC.

I don't know anyone who uses their airnz card so perhaps it's not actually aimed at real frequent flyers, but rather at the larger audience who travel infrequently and buy those passport cash cards??

I can see how it's good for people that don't/can't/won't use a CC or are absolutely paranoid about carrying cash.

It's a long way from being a benefit to a FF IMHO.

If it had a better domestic rate it could be aimed at me, or perhaps I'm the exception :p

Here she is in all her glory

Would it really have been that hard to give us a black card or something was even sort of cool?

If you're a CL, sure,

Chairmans Lounge

Had the chip actually been silver and not gold, that might have helped. But I recall a big grips of P1 members was that the card looked too similar to Platinum, you really couldn't tell without looking really closely. Now you can tell, from a distance ;)

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

Received mine in the post today as well. Like a few others, not sure if I will use it. The Monthly Inactivity Fee can be annoying .... after 12 months :p

I like my new card. Very smart, dark and slick. Probably wont use the cash part unless its for work and therefore I don't care about the forex rate ;)

For my own use I'll stick with Citibank plus.

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

Hmm P1 looks like a base level credit card, hardly distinctive or desirable. Why not a graphite card, or carbon like IO, or Bingham's engraved metal card...?

I must be the only person who likes it, maybe because I don't have it. It reminds me a lot of CX's Diamond card, which is white too. Though I'm waiting to see the special zebra card afforded to CL P1's ;)

I'd have thought IO was a special level more closely aligned with CL; and the Bingham card, while it showed a great deal of flying, was leaps and bounds ahead of P1 ;) and maybe it is out there, with yourself on over 28,000 SC's I'm sure you'll be one of the first to know.
