Like the Danish butter in the QP in Australia?
I have never noticed Danish butter in the QP.

I'm in the same boat Blangfor.
Have been lifetime qantas club member since the 90's, and get nothing for my loyalty. Hence the complimentary qantas club membership i get for being gold/platinum is useless. I would think something could be done for lifetime qantas club members, such as ability to give the complimentary membership to family member, or be given points/flight upgrades instead.
Also wish they would introduce lifetime platinum status, give me something to aim for!

Unlike lifetime QP membership platinum allows you into the domestic business lounge with 2 guests and into the international First lounge. Not so useless.
jedinite is correct. if you are lifetime qantas club, the free membership when you attain gold/platinum is useless.
if you don't have lifetime membership, there is the big advantage that your paid membership is put on hold (=$xx_ per year you do t have to pay).
access to the first class lounge, or domestic business class lounge is a feature of platinum. not of qantas club.
So you get upgraded lounge access then with WP? So, what is the problem?

the point made is that he underlying QF membership (lifetime) is useless.
that's a different argument to 'so what's the problem?'.
Platinum gives better lounge access than QP membership. Far from useless.
I disagree. The OP said that the lounge membership they receive with gold/platinum status is 'useless' as they are already a lifetime QP member. As has been stated by others, Platinum gives dom J and int F lounge access which QP does not. Also Gold and higher have much better seat selection options as well, for example.you statement is true but totally irrelevant.

Yes, I worded it wrong.
Yes, I get extra benefits by being platinum, but unlike everyone else, who's regular paid membership gets put on hold, and then their paid year continues again when they drop back down to silver or lower status, there is no option offered for lifetime QP members.
Some recognition of this is not expected, nor demanded, but would be nice to see an option such as - eg ability to transfer lifetime membership to family member for the membership year while gold/platinum, additional loyalty bonus or alike would be a nice touch on qantas's behalf.
Yes, living in dream land I know.
Maybe I should shut up before qantas decides to enhance lifetime membership and get rid of it.....oh wait....too late
Essentially all i'm trying to say is it is silly of qantas to say "here's your free qantas membership now you're gold" given that I have lifetime membership already.
you statement is true but totally irrelevant.
it wasn't worded wrong at all. it was perfectly clear. just some people misinterpreted what they saw
It wasn't misinterpreted at all. The clarification makes it even more clear. Qantas is not able to put someone's Life on hold. It is beyond qantas' power to extend the membership beyond the end of their life. This is like lifetime gold members wanting to only earn 600SC to get platinum.
again wrong. the underlying complimentary qantas club membership is indeed useless to existing gold or platinum members who also hold lifetime Qantas club membership.
whether or not there should be any compensation/recognition is an entirely different discussion.
if you are discussing the latter, then your views are relevant to that issue, but not to the former.
Sorry you have no right to say my opinion is wrong.
The poster raised compensation. I guess you misinterpreted my post. Is it irrelevant or relevant.
The fact remains that gold/platinum and life QP have different uses.
Well here is a question MEL_Traveller, what happens to QP members QP membership when they reach LTG? Is there a refund of the unused portion of the QP membership? Is there any acknowledgement that the person in a previous life was "just" a QP member?
