Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

Just out of interest how long have you waited to use the bathroom on a flight? I don't recall ever waiting more than 5 minutes.

Over 30 mins. MEL-PER flight in a poorly config A330 J cabin. If I recall correctly it was the domestic config with only 1 WC for the whole J cabin. I was genuinely surprised.

Plus, after reaching the front of thr queue an FA apologetically asked me to wait and weirdly sort of blocked the way while a pilot took his turn. Regs I know but it was just clunky in such tight confines. [Description of this deleted, on second thoughts, due security].

Pre or post config 332?

Looking at the seat map Qantas and Korean appear to have 5 WCs on the upper deck of their A380s, SQ, Emirates, Asiana have 6. Lots of flexibility on WC positioning.
It is actually quite limited which is my point. Smaller a/c have set numbers and larger have a degree of flexibility (within the regulations) but only in set positions on the a/c.

Why ask QF? Because they removed a lot of loos from the original configuration (and also 1/3 of the F galley) thereby simultaneously increasing the number of pax and decreasing the number of loos. And because they promote themselves as a premium brand whilst lowering the standards.
They only lower the standards to within the levels regulated and to what people will accept. A few will whinge but very few will go elsewhere.

just wondering if there are actually any regulations governing the number of WCs on a plane? there are regulations which state that an aircraft toilet must have an ashtray, or be equipped with a smoke alarm (in aircraft with more than 31 seats). I read there might also be something about accessibility. But those seem dependent on actually having a WC in the first place.

But I can't seem to find anything for actual numbers?

I was speaking with some FAs recently: they siad that QF are putting some of the reomved WCs back into the A380 as pax are so unhappy with the waiting and lack of facilities. I suspect that the numbers will still be down on the original fit out

Are they doing this before the refurb or this planned for when they refurbish the A380?

Agree. A gross security fail averted for a pilot to otherwise poo or pee their pants waiting.

I think at peak periods eg 1-1.5 hours before landing there should be a 5 min time limit ;)....nothing irks me more that women who do their makeup or men who shave or those that brush their teeth as the Q for the toilet gets longer and longer!

This addresses the effect, but not the cause. If we're talking business class... Cathay has 3 toilets for 39 pax on tier a30, air China has 3 for 30. Never have to wait. QF could install more WCs if they want (and may possibly reinstate them on the A80s).

Agree it's a small(ish) issue, but no one likes standing around waiting for ages.

But no toilets for the 21 PE passengers?

Gosh, you'd have the toilet door on an automated 5 minute timer if you could, wouldn't you? ;)

And once there is wifi on the planes to distract those who can't focus on the primary activity for the cubicle. ..

Why does it cost more to go via PER to LHR then going via DXB to LHR?

Are you comparing the same fare classes??

Different routes often have different fares due to class availability or competitive conditions

They did not say: but it is good that the stupidity of removing WCs is being reversed (or at least lessened)

One of the things pax expect for premium class travel is not to have to wait so long for a pit stop

Which airlines provide separate toilet facilities for PE?

I thought that there were in teh original QF A380 configuration (could be wrong but they did not use J WCs); BA

Hi there Qantas, why do still use the those cramped flying death pencils also known as the twin prop dash 8's for Qantas link, surely you can upgrade a few to jets. I've been on the dash 8 at minimum 4 times/month (now 8 flights/month) for the last 5 years and they only get more uncomfortable. I'd be able to get a signed petition of a few hundred people just from my work place alone to help the cause.

Flying death pencils? I know they're noisy but I wasn't aware they fell out of the sky. Why that nickname?

He obviously hasn't been in a Metro if he thinks Dash 8 are pencils, Metros and Dash 8 also don't fall out of the sky every day last time I checked....
