Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

Yes I was directed to insky shop. I wouldn't pay $10 so settled for the QF NC headphones with the 3 pins which are obviously designed for people with small ears.

Small ears and who don't mind a bit of aircraft noise

Given 12F seats in 12 A380s and $1.5B profit, one would think that Bose or similar proper NC headphones would not be beyond their capabilities. But then again they don't really care about the F experience.

The problem is the Bose NC headphines are battery operated and the company would need to make a special consignment with a built in 3pin wire. The 3rd Pin is the power source. However someone obviously is making current ones for QF so it would not take much to make a small order. Just a bit of $$. Theft is the other problem.

They do on other airlines. Good publicity for them to make a "Qantas" limited edition. Trivial cost to Qantas.

QF don't care about first. Full stop. If they did it would be on the longest routes: it will not be. They would have a totally dedicated F menu: they do not, many dishes shared with J. They would have exclusive amenities in F that are different and better than J; they do not.

Now they are calling the newer J seats "mini first suites"...

Aside from the bed on the A80, QF F can't really compete these days with the majors, even price is on the high side. Which is possibly why demand is falling and they no longer feel they need it. If you want many of the perks and amenities you mention, fly with another airline.

Having flown QF from LHR recently after many years (just to get double SCs), I was not impressed by the F experience. The silly turning seat (where you can't reach your glasses which you've put into one of the storage spaces on the left after you've swivilled the seat is most annoying). The tv screen is smaller than the one on my desktop, the movie etc choices are limited, and the food and especially the wines are not up to F standard. Cabin crew were good, btw.

Our last time on QF F, unfortunately. From now on we'll choose another carrier, most likely EK, or SIN.

And! And QF F hosts from LHR do not exhist. I made a request for MrsTMA to be given assistance wth luggage at LHR and in BNE and, you guessed it, ziltch. Not good enough.

My last few QF F (award) bookings have been

Book at 355 days
Look for something else later
Eat the (admittedly reasonable) cancellation fee

Not to mention the elusive QF F hosts.

I have met many F hosts and they are lovely caring people: the main reason I fly QF at all now is the wonderful F hosts and the great FAs I have met. The rest of the airline...

As an example: I had both wrists in splints and had had assistance around the world. Two lovely QF F hosts were waiting at the LHR drop off point to meet my car. They pushed my luggage trolley to check in, checked me in and helped all the way until I was safely on board and my hand luggage stowed. Wonderful service! If only the rest of QF were like this

There's definitely F hosts you just have to work out the Masonic hand shake at check-in to get one
In all seriousness though they are definitely allocated to P1 in F at DXB. Four recent sectors and had one every time.

which is wonderful and definitely what a P1 should get. However given they make a big thing out of the F hosts it should be consistent for everyone in F. TBH I have only once needed one, which was after a huge delay on QF1 where we were connecting to Venice.

when I queried what was going to happen, the F host in Sydney made sure a F host was at the gate on arrival, we had been changed to a flight out of Gatwick, the F host retrieved our luggage (which was checked through on a flight which had just departed) and a car had been organised to take us to Gatwick. It was wonderful service recovery.

I am a fan of the Qantas beds. I don't mind the swivel thing and the actual bed is terrific.

For the rest it is very J+. Food so so, service inconsistent, although always pleasant.

Given we pay for F (not upgrades or points), we have moved on. SQ is the current favourite, although we will choose based on what makes sense for the destination. E.g. Planning an East African trip for Sep 2018 and that will be Emirates, as SQ doesn't work for that.

Didn't say they were bad - just rarely seen, and sure as heck not available to every F pax (nor P1, though I actually don't expect that) in my experience in all ports where QF offer a F service (other than DFW which I have not flown to/from on QF F).

The two I have encountered - completely by chance - were indeed very good.

Not at LHR any more. I rang QF in LHR and was told they only exist in Sydney and Melbourne now. MrsTMA got absolutely no assistance at LHR.

The call Centre is wrong (yet again). They do exist in LHR, DXB and LAX as well as SYD/MEL. If they have been removed from LHR it's been since April as that was my last sector through there. Not seen one at DFW although I have been in F to and from DFW so can't say if they are there.

and isn't that appalling- an F passenger requests assistance and is refused :(

So if two passengers travelling F on QF out of LHR (paid for tickets, separate dates in May ) are refused assistance from an F host after contacting Qantas, how else is one supposed to find an F host?
