HHonors Gold/Diamond for Velocity Gold/Plat

So let's see how I get treated as a cubic zirconia!! (not a real diamond :-)

I'd be intrigued to know whether Hilton staff can tell whether someone obtained Diamond through stays/nights/points or via a status match or via fasttrack. I would think that they probably don't.

It was meant in jest......my diamond card looks official

Any HHonors front desk staff member can easily look up:

How many total stays you have ever had using your membership (number).

How often and when you have stayed and at what hotel.

Yes that would be zero...... Until now...... ;-)

never 'knew' that - always suspected that they could. thanks..

It hasn't obvious to me. In fact at my first stay at a Hilton property post diamond I was given the "Welcome back mrssimongr - thank you for being one of our most loyal members"...

Upgraded on Mar1 as well... let's see how long the status is good for. I was a little shocked by the initial email from Velocity saying only for 6 months though I think this is bogus. Fingers crossed! :)

It depends upon the agent and whether they can be bothered doing the extra 'click' to drill down (and indeed using the info if they actually did so).

Ah, so they could potentially decide that you're probably a fasttrack/status-match Diamond rather than one that stayed. I'm going to easily qualify on nights this year - I thought that I would struggle to make 28 stays in a year even whilst flipping hotels as a one-night-stay warrior - I've surprised myself that I'm going to make it on nights, and have stopped the flipping from hotel to hotel (much to my partner's relief!)

Yes, but I don't how many staff would bother looking for extra information.

There's usually an acknowledgemnt of diamond and that you have been here before. Then they move on.

I am velocity platinum and took up the Priority club status offer. I am now looking like traveling more in Asia and considering stating at Hilton hotels. Has anyone been able to take up both the Priority club rewards AND the HHonors diamond offers?
Or does anyone have a suggested HHonors contact I could try?

Well, at least from me the VA offer to match QF platinum worked to benefit HH. As I was certain to lose my IHG RA status I have made a concerted effort to push bookings to HH. By the end of the year I will have retained HH Diamond status based on points (100,000+) rather than nights or stays where I'll fall a little short. This is business that HH would never have got but for the offer. As I've been very happy with the level of service, upgrades, free breakfasts, club access and bonus points it has been win/win and I'll continue on next year.

I'm DJ Gold and have only got round to claiming the Hilton Gold today. I was hoping to book a 3 night stay at the Gold Coast mid August and obviously wont have my card by then. Do I need my card to get any benefits? How have people got on with benefits if NOT booked off the Hilton website? Thanks for any advice!

By rule benefits would not apply unless booked via Hilton.

Ifyou status online shows as gold then you should be good to go (with the above caveat).

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Thanks for the speedy response Serfty. OT but I remember seeing Hilton were having a 25% off sale the other day, is this still going or possibly just my imagination...

The card needs to be active as gold before your stay - I suggest a couple of days before contact HH and if they don't have your card as gold or info on it (which is what happened to me) contact DJ and ask if they can look into it. If you are gold over phone/internet (from HH) you won't need the card for stays after (handy to have incase) - it will be in the system. I've not needed to show card since (even when I was a low blue level).
