Hilton Honors Macquarie Platinum Card Discontinued

Has anyone on the old FFL Hilton / Macquarie card offer succeeded in switching to the Qantas /Macquarie card for the $50 difference between Macquarie Black (which we now have) and the Macquarie Black Qantas card?

Macquarie Black is $249pa on their website and Macquarie Black Qantas is $299.
Not sure about fee-free. However, on the paid card, no fee is due until the next renewal date. Yes, $299 for QF earning.

There seems to be so much doubt about retaining status until 31/3/21 in this thread when we have already been advised that it will come to pass.

Oh ye of little faith. :)

Gday

Well the guest correspondence email yielded the result i was after- written confirmation of status extension to March 2021.

Pele.

I wasn't so lucky with my reply from HHonors (above), but I have the original email from them stating the date, so I'll keep it as proof.

Going to cancel the card as soon as all business related expenses for 30/6 are on card and paid off. Latest statement was 25/6 and I've stopped using it as I have a new NAB Signature card that got some nice 30 June transactions on it ;)

After the posts above, I emailed Hilton using the email mentioned above, and also now have written confirmation my Diamond status is extended to 31 March 2021. Thanks for all the advice and info given above!

Hi all - another here with written confirmation from Hilton that it's sorted to March 2021... will now cancel the Macquarie card as well, as I've no need for it at this point. Frees up some limit liability for the next decent offer that comes along ;)

Cheers,
Matt.

I have to make sure that my wife/CFO has paid the outstanding balance before I can cancel it. But I have already moved my business spend to my new NAB Business Signature Visa and already racked up $2,750 in less than a month (spend towards $3,000 in 60 days for 100K QFF points). Think I'll do that easily ;)

Similarly, I have emails from both Macquarie Bank (2nd February 19) and Hilton Honors (15 February 19) that confirm my extension to 2021:

Macquarie said:
Thanks for your loyalty

Macquarie Black is $249pa on their website and Macquarie Black Qantas is $299.

Reporting back - I was able to have my FFL Hilton/Macquarie, now Macquarie Black card converted to Macquarie/Qantas, retaining the FFL offer.
I wanted a 1:1 Qantas earning Visa or Mastercard, and 4000pts/mth at 1:1 followed by 0.5:1 is not bad.

do they just charge the the $50 Qantas program fee annually or the first year waived or is it free for life still with no program fee?

The annual fee is now due on my Macquarie Black (QF points)(unfortunately it's not the FFL card). I phoned the Call Centre about a fee reduction but they are playing hard-ball and weren't interested. I don't want to threaten cancellation as I may want to keep it for another year.

I converted mine to Qantas points a few weeks ago and was assured it is still fee free for life. HUACA

Just spent $US269.53 on the new Mac Black replacement card (has no international currency conversion). I expect there to be just the Visa conversion fee of about .5%
Got the instantaneous push notification from Mac Bank..."$AUS395.28 spent"
Checked xe.com shows mid market rate is 0.679355 so with (or even without!) the visa .5% margin it was done at better than current mid market rate; I presume visa perhaps lock a rate in for a fixed time, which would seem to be at least 7 hours as that was the big drop in the AUS/US rate earlier today. Even at the better rate this morning the TOTAL conversion cost was less than 0.4%.
Very happy with Mac Black card for international transactions.

I got rid of my 28 Degrees / Latitude card because it offered nothing I wasn't already getting with my Macbank Black card.

Macquarie have reduced annual fees for new cardholders. E.g Black with Qantas is now $149 - wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a fee reduction based on these new fees?

Hilton are playing hardball even though I have the email saying I should be Diamond until March 2021 and said I haven't stayed enough. I've just sent them a snip from the email I have - thank goodness I'm an email hoarder. SIGGHH
