Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

do you have request to get upgrade.. or was it automatically ?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Just logged in. Mrs Alex is HH Diamond. Never spent a single $ on the card - haven't even activated it yet.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

More info pls.

I'm on the fence with this card. Heart says yes, head says no. Buf if diamond is in prospect for $2k or less than I could be persuaded.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

People who got Diamond, did you already have any status?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

All I can say is I have the status and never even activated this card, I did see it was Gold before but now showing as Diamond. Nor were we ever a Honors Member. But don't go ringing the silver donut asking why you didn't get it as it might ruin it for quite a few people.

Do you know how long your Diamond Status last for?

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

I was gold before the upgrade, which was not requested. It kicked in a few days after activation, without $0 expenses. No expiry date on the new card, but website says "To maintain Diamond status in 2017, you need 49 more nights".

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

It gets better.

I received a card in the mail last week rewarding me with Diamond status thanks to being a loyal Macquarie Hilton card holder.

I don't have the card. Never even applied.

This doesn't sound good. I'll enjoy my Diamond whilst it lasts.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Doesn't say - but honestly I don't see all the fuss with the status - it's not that much different to Gold.

Don't worry Alexy, I won't call the millionaire's factory. But if I were you, I'd be making as much hay as you can because the difference between diamond and gold is significant. Lucky break.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

And it looks like SPG only do status challenges now. Will have to be content with my Amex SPG gold.

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

Humoured myself after reading everybody elses' good fortune - I'm Diamond as well. Now I have spent $$ on the cad over the past 12 months, but I didn't think sufficient to get Diamond. The sun is shinning and I have the scythe ready :D.

I wasn't Diamond at my last stay (Hilton Doubletree CNS 5 weeks ago) and with only 5 stays, 11 nights and 13K Base points, don't think it was either of these 3 that got me over he line. Remember checking that the previous stay had posted correctly, so that would be end of September. Something weird is certainly happening as it backdates to before that stay given I too have the gbetox comment "To maintain Diamond status in 2017, you need 49 more nights".

The only change I've had is an upgrade in VA Status from Silver to Gold in that time. That also doesn't equate to gifting me Diamond.

*whistles as he slowly tiptoes away to await new Diamond card and see expiry date*

Re: Hilton HHonours Macquarie Platinum Card

The decimation of Gold Passport has me considering my options.

I seem to recall that if you qualified or requalified for Hilton status from 1 March onwards you carried it through until February 28 of the year after the next (almost up to two years of status).

I see this card comes with Diamond after $40k spend. (I also note for some people it comes after absolutely nothing which is a nice unpublished perk.) If I was to spend $40k in January or February 2017 would the status carry through until February 2019?

I have not spent over $40,000 in a year on this card, so have no first-hand experience.

However, the card T&C says: ... [SUP]9[/SUP] If, during any anniversary year of your Account (which commences either on the date your Account was opened or on the anniversary of the date your Account was opened), you spend at least $40,000 on eligible purchases on your Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card, you will be upgraded to Hilton HHonors Diamond status. You will retain Diamond status for the anniversary year in which it was earned through to the end of the following anniversary year. Thereafter, in order to maintain Diamond status, you must meet the annual qualifying purchase requirements during an anniversary year with your Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card or meet the standard requirements outlined in the Hilton HHonors Program at HHonors.com/Terms ..."

I have no idea about how HHonors monitor the "anniversary dates" for credit card opening. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Diamond status would remain until 31 March 2019 (i.e., the usual status cycle), for reaching Diamond from 1st January 2017, unless the HHonors system is sophisticated enough to identify credit card account anniversary dates for each card holder.

Others may have first hand experience.
