Do you find the best use of your HH points is essentially redeeming for rooms?

Yes, the best value for Hilton points is at either end of the spectrum. Getting rooms such as the Double Tree KL for 10k points or Conrad Koh Samui for 95k points.

5k for a room at Bali airport is excellent value, perfect for a start/end to a journey. Location is not good (but not horrible), but useful before going onto ultimate destination.

Can I ask how you would check that your status is extended to March 2021?
When I log in to the Hilton website it only seems to mention the current year (as I recall).

If you cancel the card is there any way they could reverse the extended status?

I used to use the App, where when you requested an electronic copy of the card, it use to display the expiry date. Now looks like it doesn't and similar for HH website.

I'll simply ring the Diamond Desk and ask towards the end of April. I might also try and get it from Macquarie (in writing) that they have extended it. I certainly won't be cancelling the card earlier than 30 April.

If you cancel the card early, anything is likely. Depends on when is your annual card renewal (and whether you have an ongoing annual fee). Can't find any other T&C's backing up this cancellation, only the FAQ's.

I wonder if anyone has been using this card for ATO tax payment and confirm if such payment earn points?
Just want to confirm because I have always used this card for my council rates and earned points even though the T&Cs suggest no points for government-related payments.

I recall they wrote ATO as an exclusion some time ago. When I’ve used it for ATO, I’ve used EasyBillpay just to be sure and it’s worked. Similar cost to ATO direct & you know you’ll get the points.

I have already met the $12k spending more than a week ago but still haven't got the certificate. Last year I got the cert pretty much immediately after the 12k posted.

Usually takes 6 weeks or more. I think I qualified longer ago than that. May need to follow them up about it as I’d like to use it for an upcoming booking.

i requested an emailed certificate however they wouldnt provide it.

I emailed the Hilton Honors desk directly for details of my certificate. It was issued as soon as I hit $12k but I didn't receive any notification and it doesn't show though the Honors portal.

I'm trying to work out how to spend 9k on my card before it all finishes up in may, to qualify for my certificate. I've been putting everything on it, and I've prepaid my health insurance, day care bills etc. But i can't think of any creative way to get there. I'll prob just buy way too many coles/woolies gift cards to hit the spend.

Well this was a very good advice. I called Hilton (just for fun) to ask if I already got the certificate. Surprise surprise! The certificate was already there, even though I didn't receive any email about it. It was apparently issued on the same day when the $12k was hit. So if you are waiting for the cert while you feel that you have met the $12k spending, call Hilton directly and most likely your certificate is already there.


On a separate topic, I wonder if anyone had any experience getting the free weekend night certificate extended? I got one from last year expiring this April, but I am hoping to use it in May.

Which number did you call? Did you speak with reservations?
