Gday

Foggy I can confirm the Asia sale mentioned above was good at the Conrad Tokyo. Booked a night in late January 2019 for JPY40k including all taxes and service charges. Then take off another $80 for the Amex promotion.

Pele.

totally new to hilton (& gold via amex platinum).
debating booking july '19 stays now with the 25% off and $80 amex promo.

is there a trend for hilton sales or a trend for the percentages off?

always been an accor person who a few times a year have 40% off worldwide, wondering if there is a something similar?

EDIT: as gold get free brekkie and I make two bookings with two amex cards (inlaws 2x nights & us 3x nights). would they then also get free brekkie?

I’m fairly new to this program but can those in the know recommend the best option for transferring HH points?
AMEX are running a promo with 100k HH points instead of the normal 60k and was wondering if it’s worth it or not.

How many accounts (eg yours and your partner)? If you only have one account, you will have gold which allows you a continental breakfast for 2 (if that is selected in your account). Some hotels will permit more than 2 for complementary breakfast, but not always.

Hilton does have regular sales, but I can't say how often or at what discount. I tend not to buy sales rates so far out as they nearly always require up front payment and are non-refundable so if circumstances change, you might lose the cash.

Thanks. Yeah just my account has gold. To qualify for the amex offer I think it has to be prepaid now in full.

Could not figure out how many points it would take to stay there, it only showed me $ amounts for pricing per night. If buying the points might work out cheaper or transfer from amex

No pattern to sales best I can tell, and agree with swanning_it that they can be risky given pre-payment. But I’ve regularly seen and used 40% discounts on SE Asia sales and up to 35% Asia-Pacific sales when I know I’m travelling.

But I generally find the Hilton members rates to be pretty good (and flexible), and the main ones for me are Government and AAA rates. I have sufficient proof for Govt rates but never once been asked for it. Same for AAA. In this regard I reckon Hilton is consistently better than Accor. And I say that as a much more frequent Accor stayer - but shopping and jumping on sales is required more for Accor in my view.

2K bonus point per stay and 10K after each 5 stays / 10 nights for stays from 4th January through 5th May.

If my maths is correct, staying at a 5K points redemption hotel x 5 times @ 1 night/stay will only cost a grand total of 5K points for the 5 stays. Too bad there's none in Oz, otherwise it'll almost be like free accommodation plus no cleaning! :D

Having the same issues as @DC3, will keep checking it every couple of days
Had the same problem using my iphone. Logged onto the laptop using Chrome and I was registered straight away.

My reading of general Ts&Cs suggests that award nights would not earn Bonus points (they’re not points earning - only tier stay/nights) - unless you have additional folio charges. Someone else might know if folio charges on award nights have triggered bonus previously.

I'm still lost on how to see how many points a hotel will cost. I tick show points but only get results for $. Is it because my balance is 0?

No, it should let you check and tell you how many you are short.

Click on advanced search and then Special Rate Code. Check ‘Use Points’. Flexible dates will show if it varies day to day and/or available dates.

Interesting. I know for sure the 10K bonus past 40 nights will be triggered, even for points stay. I closed out the year with a 10K hotel night redemption as I was 1 night short of the next 10th milestone and the 10K bonus points was credited the next day, so basically a free stay. :)
