Sadly the guaranteed status benefits, especially mid-level, for HHonors far outrank those for Le-Club Accor.

SWMBO far prefers the HOP to the HSW, we have the one booking for next May. I'm only Le Club Gold (bib) - if no guaranteed breakfast nor executive lounge access then it's the end for me at that venue ...

For me there was no comparison between the service at each HH in MEL. HotP won hands down.
Totally agree, I don't think I'll move back to HSW unless the price is competitive. Oh well, I'll enjoy Diamond while it last and won't chase it next year. The new DT's internal rooms do not appeal either. I am assuming the internal room means window-less? If so, definitely a no-go for me.

Swanning_it,

I only found out last week, and was asked not to publish anything until Accor had made an announcement.

Very occasionally I receive embargoed media/commercial information. I have not contravened an embargo yet, and I am not about to start.

Jess.

+1. Some things are meant to be kept - commercial in confidence is one of them.

We've just lost accor status and gained HH status so its a bit of a bummer. Only had our first stay there in September...

If one must compare Pullman to a SPG hotel, I suppose it would be somewhat like a Le Meridien with a bit of a W-wannabe tone to it. Although I'm speaking from my experience in Asia, rather than in AU.

I find Pullmans and MGallery are very uneven world wide. My theory is that they are 'filling' those brands by replacing other management in established hotels (as in this case) and there is a lot of the residual (good or bad) in them. MGallery especially are mostly show with very average service standards.

Sofitel, Novatel and even Ibis - you know exactly what you are going to get.

I've had many stays at HOTP and enjoyed it, particularly the EL.

I've only ever stayed at several Accor hotels, but I'm surprised that Accor would rate HOTP at Pullman standard, rather than say a Grand Mecure/Mecure, which I would have thought would be the approximate fit.

I'm no authority on Accor, but I thought that Pullman rooms were meant to be bit more plush/luxurious. Maybe they plan to spend some money in updating.

Edit: Something above a Novotel

Here it is: Brand Portfolio*- Accor See comment above - I find Pullman (and MGallery) very uneven in standard. More disappointments than wins actually; I now avoid them. If I want luxury, go up to Sofitel; if I want comfortable, go down to Novatel.

I contacted HH to ask about stays beyond the 1st of Jan (As I have a number of forward bookings at HOTP including one of the night of the Cricket World Cup Final) and they have stated that stay credits and points WILL NOT be earned on any existing bookings. Also that status with Hilton will not provide any benefit.

This is pretty devastating for me as I thought I was super sneaky getting my world cup booking in early at a great rate and now all the other Hilton have rates over 500/night for that time period.

It is also worth noting that Hilton will not/can not move you to another hotel for the same rate you have confirmed with on HOTP.

That's pretty disappointing to hear. You'd think as a goodwill gesture that accor would treat you as per your HH status for stays booked before the announcement.

The only announcement I saw was on AFF.
I have 8 bookings at HOTP, include some for Jan but I didn't get any notice from the hotel or from HH about the change. Even now when I log-in to make a booking via the app I can't see any notice that says this property is leaving the Hilton group on 1st Jan.
Some people will get a nasty surprise when they check in to this hotel next year.

Agree. Doesn't seem that it's being handled well so far.

That's fairly standard when a property changes management regardless of who it is.

. . . . . Accor also bought The Park Lane in HKG, and will be labelling it a Pullman as well. I can't imagine how that will work out.

Now that is *very* interesting; I photographed for the interior designer last year, and was informed that hotel always has high occupancy. Guess Accor can see the value in having them in their portfolio.

The lobby is rather tired - something that was on her list of areas they wanted to refurbish, but the owner was reluctant due to the high number of guests they always have.

Will be interesting to see how it performs under the Accor brand.

Farewell Hilton on the Park

I was just checking my booking for tomorrow and it came up with "from 1 jan 15 this Hotel will cease to be a member of the Hilton group, all stays after this day will not earn HHonors points". Very sad, I prefer it over HSW and I have very fond memories of my first stay there, my husband proposed to me in the bathroom of HOTP whilst I was brushing my teeth! We laugh at it to this day he wandered in whilst I had a mouthful of toothpaste and said "would you like to marry me" and I couldn't spit it out fast enough to say yes! I will miss it.
