Re: Farewell Hilton on the Park

I was just checking my booking for tomorrow and it came up with "from 1 jan 15 this Hotel will cease to be a member of the Hilton group, all stays after this day will not earn HHonors points". Very sad, I prefer it over HSW and I have very fond memories of my first stay there, my husband proposed to me in the bathroom of HOTP whilst I was brushing my teeth! We laugh at it to this day he wandered in whilst I had a mouthful of toothpaste and said "would you like to marry me" and I couldn't spit it out fast enough to say yes! I will miss it.
. Well here I am trying to party for my last stay, no hubby with me but I've had three glasses of bubbles and the sun has set in the exec lounge, two more nights to go and yes as always an upgrade to a relaxation suite

Hgwells01, please raise a glass for me. And tell Carmen/Wish/Jemilla that I will see them before the name change. ;)

Re: Farewell Hilton on the Park

End of an era : The Hilton sign is being pulled down by two men hanging from ropes on the side of the building as I write this message.

I was wondering what everyone was looking up at from the street as I sat down eating breakfast and went out and saw the sign coming down.

I think the fluoro tubes had gone in one letter of the sign when I was there last, so it was already looking a little sad.

Last stay tonight at HOTP. Hoping for an upgrade to a suite.

I feel it won't be my last stay in the building, as I'm considering moving our business to Accor as we are doing mostly domestic travel now, and Hilton leaves much to be desired in Australia.

Be interested to see what the do with the building, it's pretty tired.

yeah i don't mind the lobby area, but the bathrooms in the non-suites need to be ripped apart and re-done. New TV system / TV's needed too. the pillows are a little disappointing also IMO. The jacuzzi needs a bit of a refresh too

I hope they do something with the exterior...not exactly screaming street appeal.

It would be nice if they render the building like the pullman hotel in queens road and a very huge amound of renovations done to the room and public areas

I have just checked for my last HotP stay. Coincidentally ;) it is also my qualifying stay for HHD.

Didn't quite manage the upgrade I was hoping for, but I am still in a relaxation suite. :)

Out of interest, has anyone here ever received it as an upgrade?

Or been in there as a paid guest? Is it nice? Or just like a larger Relaxation Suite?

When did that become the WC Suite by the way? It was just an 'apartment' on the website, wasn't it?

I'm sure that the same photo has been on the website for a few years now.

I assumed you were referring to the William Clarke Suite!?
I was, but thought you may have meant a spa suite which are also not offered as upgrades. Although I did ask for one once to try them - prefer the relax suite.

I had an opportunity to NOR1 the William Clarke for $399, but chose to wait until check in to ask. My mistake. At check in I was first told $800, and then $650. A bit too much for me to justify. As I had booked P+P I couldn't use points.

Have you stayed in the William Clarke Suite before?
