Bad start to the day. Woke up 30 minutes before the alarm. Then sms'ed mum about the smokey/boozey smell in the taxi instead of SWMBO. Check in guy has now got me double guessing my seat selection of 80A, as there are a number of seats available up front. I love early mornings.

Great start to the trip.

Edit. On board QF730 and life is better. Shadow held. Umberto is CSM, from the epiqure wine and wheels night fame. He gave me a great greeting on boarding. [-]John[/-] Robert Hill on the flight, a more agreeable South Oz pollie than lord downer.

too late ... Just saw this. Was upstairs in the Y mini cabin with Mrs nonpop.
now just checked in to the Langham Place who have just upgraded us to a corner suite and lounge access. Someone has to do it.

did you find on the QF flight the greetings became too much. We got 4 greetings / personal goodbyes. Both Mrs and I are WP but at least they kept the service up.

We scored J amenity packs and Champagne which was nice.

Your experience was vastly different to mine.

I was in 80k and had a double shadow which was nice. WhY was. 75% full downstairs.
The exit row 79 was also empty, although during the boarding a vacationing QF staff member was moved there. He received a great chat from the CSM, F bubbles, J headphones, F amenities kit and a J blanket and pillow.

I got a welcome 4 hours into the flight from the supervisor and upon decent a thank you.

I'm glad a WP1 can be valued so much.

(To be honest it really doesn't bother me as you get what you pay for , which in my case was a stupidly low airfare) but service consistency is certainly still a big issue.

Breakfast in the wing this morning. Flight leaving from gate 3, nice and simple. :)ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1402096475.198870.jpg

The shadow in 80A was taken for me. Thanks to expert flyer I noticed that 66DEFG was empty. So on boarding I asked the boss man if I could move. Not a problem. I'm disappointed about not getting to experience 80A. But space wins.

Of course I got half a lecture from the 'happy' crew member standing at door M3L. "That seats cost money you know." She wasn't very happy with "not for me as a platinum". I then got a bit of a lecture about people who pay for business class, those who don't and the differences between them. Apparently, they've done studies. As I said a very happy person who made me feel extremely welcome. It was in stark contrast to the CSM. Anyway the attitude moderated after I pointed out that I work for a charity and hence don't ask work to pay for business

I'd post photos of the offerings in the BKK CX lounge in concourse D but that would be embarrassing.

I am not hungry anyway. Got into Bangkok late last night and had McDonalds just before midnight curfew. Disgusting stuff.

Anyone in HKG airport between 1:00pm-2:00pm today?

Shall we all meet at harbour grand at 6pm and find our way to Sai Kung from there then. Frogger and medhead you better be coming along otherwise someone will have to wear a huge DYKWIA top to be recognized.
I will be coming but I think I'll go to Sai Kung earlier to have a good wander around. I could meet up with you all at the entrance to Hoi Pong Square.

See you all at 6pm. I'm just heading out to see some of Hong Kong rather than just spend the day drinking again. Any one know a good shopping centre for electronics BTW?

Thanks Frogger

What lounge are we starting off at?

perhaps we could marshall at The Wing F lounge initially for champagne and lunch before adjouring to The Pier for some afternoon 'tea' at The Long Bar with a good view of the arrivals on 07L/25R then perhaps a quick stop at the EK lounge for the top shelf stuff followed by The Bridge for a slice of pizza and a nap on the couch then a quick look in at The Cabin for a toasted panini and a cleansing juice.

Rounding it all out with a quick stop at the G16 before finishing up at the QF lounge :)

(those going for the full set may need to make a pre-visit to The Arrival beforehand)
