Feeling the love from CX. 3 op ups out of 4 flights. Currently at cx KUL lounge, not that great but at least it's nice and quiet, good place to tend a sore head! Re: dinner tomorrow I haven't been to Sai Kung for ages, if we are still keen to go there, I suggest we meet at a hotel and go from there. I'll be at the island side, Harbour Grand where the QF crew are staying. Happy to consider anywhere more central etc and take the mtr from there.

I'm happy to meet at your hotel. Not sure if timing is an issue, as I'm not due to land until 5pm or so. I'm staying at the shangri-la, so I think that should be easy to get to the island. But then I have no idea about hong kong. *goes to download a map

Aeolos - regarding dinner on Saturday - I am still interested and meeting at your hotel is probably the way to go. Perhaps there is some available QF crew. I am lunching and beer-festing and dragon boat watching with will2rob and froggerADL today so will see if they will be joining us.
Shall we all meet at harbour grand at 6pm and find our way to Sai Kung from there then. Frogger and medhead you better be coming along otherwise someone will have to wear a huge DYKWIA top to be recognized.

That sounds like a plan. Harbour grand Hong kong? (not kowloon?)

I might be running a bit late, plane scheduled to land at 5:20pm, but sounds good.

What sort of ballpark are we talking for the cost of dinner?

Medhead, easiest would be to purchase a one way airport express train to HK island side, then either take the taxi or the free shuttle bus to the Harbour Grand which is by the Fortress Hill station. I think we will have to make it either 6:30 or 7 to make sure you arrive on time. You can leave yr bags with me but I think you'll be traveling light? Perhaps you can also ask the QF crews on yr way here if they would like to join us. You'll be seeing the same crew on our way home too!

Speaking of which .. on Sunday, hopefully we can park our bags somewhere at the W?

Ok. I am traveling light. Was hoping to check in before dinner. I'll see how timing works out. I'll ask the obvious question: the airport express will be significantly quicker that a taxi?

similar timing when you take the transfer into account but there may be a line at the airport for cabs - i always take the airport express

Most definitely and cheaper too. Remember not to buy return ticket if you are coming to meet us at the island side then back via Kowloon. Love the free PCCW free wifi too which I'm currently using on the train

Jess, the CX load from KUL is especially high due to code share with MH and no one wants to fly MH metal so they tell me!

After having just checked on to our VERY ordinary resort in Koh Samui I wish we could jump in an a/c join you.

Has everyone travelling on cx flights on Sunday remembered to olci at t-48 :)

Firstly condolence to mickeyc747

I'm off to a bad start. Besides having a bit of a sore head and staying up nearly all night - sunrise is like 2 or 3am and end of semester for everybody so overall I came off pretty well compared to many

However my first attempt at flying Niki has resulted in a 3 hr delay! So much for the long transit in VIE, will just be lounging all day it seems. Pity I didn't get choose the shorter connection as I would have got compensation. Both flights on jungle jets, will try an exit row on the first longer flight and row 1 on the second and report back.

Currently have 1K on CX, only 1A is allocated but EF indicates the cabin (of 6) is filling up a little. Not sure if I want to OLCI for it.

Figures about KL-HK, I'm booked on CX myself later this year. MAS mostly run narrow bodies on the route so for me 772/333 J > 737 J. Pity they've dropped the A380 flight, was going to connect through on it in F.

Also are we going to do as Reload said and 'live blog' onto the forum? Our mediocre attempt at the SIN run got a good reception.

Ok let me start. Besides most of you don't get up this way.

The terminal 2 lounge at Arlanda. T2 is used by oneworld carriers and AF, small and clean and not bad at all. Lounge is decent standard for an affiliate lounge. Obviously as good as the SAS options in T5. Also at the back there are lots of little areas with different furnishings. Maybe they got it all from garage sales but it works.

Meanwhile still waiting on Niki. I've got a gopro so should be able to get some cabin shots

Nonpop come down and visit, 80k is rather spacious.View attachment 29149

too late ... Just saw this. Was upstairs in the Y mini cabin with Mrs nonpop.
now just checked in to the Langham Place who have just upgraded us to a corner suite and lounge access. Someone has to do it.

did you find on the QF flight the greetings became too much. We got 4 greetings / personal goodbyes. Both Mrs and I are WP but at least they kept the service up.

We scored J amenity packs and Champagne which was nice.

If it's a carry-on, take it with you. It's not really a crowded place as such. If it's check-in, you can do so at Kowloon station before yum cha if you like. If you must leave it somewhere, there is a baggage counter near Kowloon station for a small fee. But surely, it's a hotel, they have to have luggage storage somewhere.

Definitely agree with that one. Only reason why I'm slumping on it this time is that there's a 20% discount for doing so - and even then, I still had to think about it if it's really what I wanted to do, or if I should just part with the extra cash for what's arguably much more than a 20% improvement. MH has a 772 slopey bed for one of the timings, and the others are all 738. CX is all wide-body so even getting the old regional config is still better than 3/4 of the MH flights.

Thanks Aeolus, I am guarding my shadow.
At least it's still the long haul config for your HKG-KUL flight on Sun night. In which case, you won't even need to worry about having a shadow or not.
