HKG lounge crawl 8 June 2014

Within Asia, I guess only NRT, SIN, and HKG would be worth visiting for a crawl as such. Out of the 3, NRT is the only one that we haven't done yet, although in terms of quality and variety, I would say HKG is the winner.

How many Oneworld lounges at NRT?

How many Oneworld lounges at NRT?

Off the top of my head, AA and JL in the main terminal and QF and JL in the satellite.

SIN worked with 4 lounges + EK however the group was much smaller, so it was more of a private hang out than uni pub crawl ;)

Is there anyone else who's still waiting for QF128 to credit?

I put in a missing points claim at 9.30 today and the points had credited by 11am, together with loyalty bonus.

I feel like I deserve the loyalty bonus after I spent 90 minutes yesterday giving feedback to QF - first the feedback panel survey followed by 2 more requests from QF Loyalty, one re international and one re domestic. Should send them a bill for my time (yes, kidding!!)

NRT doesn't sound too exciting to me. Qantas A330 and Jetstar 787 also scare me.

I'll wait until HKG is chosen again and see if I can attend. The Queen's Birthday weekend looks suitable as I will be more than likely be in Thailand again

Dont forget CX on level 4

I'm always available for a drink when anyone is passing through HKG :)

It depends on how the JL lounges are counted. In the main building, level 3 and level 4 are completely separate, so technically different lounges. And then, they're split between J and F as well. There is a free massage service at the level 3 F lounge, and you can pour your own Remy Martin XO, if that's your cup of tea.

Then, as mentioned, there are also the AA and CX lounges in the main buliding. There is another JL lounge in the satellite building, and the QF lounge is also there. The QF lounge is probably roughly the same standard as a generic regional J lounge (which is not spectacular).

If we must go somewhere where the group hasn't gone to before, it would be NRT. Otherwise, the KUL + SIN idea seems quite interesting, but that will rely on the whole group flying the one-hour hop on a MH 738...

To get out of NRT, I don't know how much longer the QF 744s will be doing the rounds. While it's possible to take JL or CX out, the schedule won't work in terms of transfers unless we stay a night at the next port. By that time though, SIN will be serviced by only A330s. HKG wins again in that regards, as it's possibly the port that is most likely to keep a 744, although it probably won't have F.

Anyway, I think Anna and JessicaTam would pretty much be regarded as the "owners" of the Annual AFF Lounge Crawl as they have initiated the last 2 crawls, so basically, we'll go to wherever they tell us to go to. :)

Yeah, me! Received the Syd-Adl but not Hkg-Syd but have put in the claim.
Re: next lounge crawl, is DXB worth considering? The only danger with DXB is, I might end up doing the shops crawl instead of lounges.

DXB is a good idea and could involve a short hop to DOH's new airport on QR First, hopefully by then the QR F lounge will be open as well. After experiencing QR 787 J & F recently I was definitely blown away how good the product and food/champagne was on QR.

Of course, the last two lounge crawls have involved a new QF lounge. If we are talking a far as dxb, then surely the next new QF lounge (lax) should be in the mix. ;)

To be fair, it was Anna's idea. I just keep turning up!

Careful, I might say somewhere outlandish like HEL :)

Or something crazy like a trip to the flagship lounge of every OW airline :p

Or a lounge crawl round the major AA hubs in USA finishing up with the new QF lounge in LAX (actually that one sounds ok especially if combined with judicious SC calculations ;))

Being more realistic I like the combined KUL SIN idea, followed by NRT in spring when the cherry blossom is out.

Qantas still sell PE between SYD and NRT .... ;)

That's never an accurate indication. Some may remember me making a joke that I should take a gamble - buy a $1331 SGD PE ticket between SIN and SYD, and hoping that they would downgrade both legs so I would fly in Y with massive compensation, which gives me an almost free flight (plus SCs and points). Unfortunately, QF was 1 step ahead of me, with the flight I was looking at being replaced by an A330 before I booked it. :-|

I will investigate NRT in about 6 weeks when I take summer holidays in Japan :P

AY have just upgraded their non-Schengen lounge and the Schengen lounge is now shut for renovations over summer, just saying.. but seriously no I transit HEL far too often. It just doesn't work in Europe, can imagine trying something like this in Tegel!
