How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Hmm. That room is almost a suite isn't it? I didn't think HH did upgrades to suites ... sounds like you got really lucky with that one.
HH do upgrades to suites but it is a very random thing. I've had suite upgrades in Melbourne, Adelaide, Nadi, Auckland and Lake Taupo but not Sydney, Brisbane or Perth.

Thats really good to know. Must come down to management on the day though as I'm sure its specifically excluded on the HH site as a benefit of Gold/Diamond space available room upgrades.

Those times you have been fortunate, have you tended to have low end bookings or top (executive) but just below suite bookings?

Correct, suites are specifically defined as not being an upgrade facility of the HHonors program.

However, hotel upgrades still happen and this can be to suites. Often management will indeed upgrade HHonors elites to suites in these cases before other guest. What do I do? 1) Don't expect Suite Upgrades, & 2) Be happy when the occur.

Well, you'll have to put Brisbane to the test later this week.

I'm about to test Perth!

P.S. So you won't want to know that got upgraded to a King Suite for my 2 night stay :o :D

Property: Hilton South Wharf
Room Booked: Twin Guest Room
Rate Paid: $205 corporate rate
Room Received: Two bedroom apartment on top floor, executive lounge access, two bottles of water and welcome card from GM

I love this hotel!!!!!

Hilton Brissy 3 Oct upgraded to exec room, water and welcome letter. Rather rude staff member in the Exec Lounge told me to get off the computer as i'd been on it for a very long time and another guest wanted to use it, i'd been on it long enough to check the time of my flight the next day - so perhaps 3 mins, and i'd noted the polite request above the computer to please keep it to 10 mins so all could share it, rather humiliated me at the time,

HOTP 17/18 Sep - upgraded to exec room, water, lovely staff, esp Jane who services the Exec floor , been there so often she knows my name as does Trevor downstairs now.

Hilton Syd 23 Sep, - asked for upgrade to Relaxation Room and paid for it cos I wanted to lie in the bath and look at the telly :-)) Had breckie in Glass downstairs in the morning and late check out.

Pretty happy with service all the time, maybe the Brissy staff member was having an off day and mistook me for someone else that had been hogging the computer.:p

Rate: $310
Room Received: King Relaxation Apartment

Great upgrades here appear to be more related to frequency of stays rather than satus. Been here like 10 stays. I've had heaps of suites lately as Gold. Just matched to Diamond from Virgin. Although this is the best..but I still think it's stays not status.

I hope you are right as I have not been able to work out a pattern with them.

Hilton London Metropole 28 Sep- 1st Oct
Room : Family x 2
Rate : Silly money (approx $400 per room per night)
Asked at check in regarding upgrade/ exec lounge as none seemed to be forthcoming. Advised there is no exec family rooms in hotel and as exec lounge is very small only diamonds get guaranteed access, would give complimentary breakfast etc etc. When I looked at room numbers they appeared not to be interconnecting ( I requested this when booking several months prior). Profuse apologies from reception, rooms changed to be interconnecting and also given exec lounge access :)
Breakfast complimentary in either exec lounge or Fianna restaurant. As lounge was on small side we had brekkie in restaurant each morning.

Hello Princess,
To get that price did you pre-pay or use AAA rate?
Any thoughts on getting London for less for a few nights at a Hilton?
Did you go direct or thru an agency?
Any other thoughts?

Hi Cove,
Rates were best unrestricted from Hilton website, did look at some other options eg. Minibreaks pre-paid give 50% off 2nd room. I have only recently become a Hilton regular so not yet looked at AAA, MPC .

I'm hoping this is the right thread to ask a Hilton question. I'm a newly minted VA platinum and will shortly apply for Hilton Diamond. Timing is everything! :D Can anyone recommend the best Honolulu hotel for HH Diamond? I have 4 days there in December. My reading of the FT threads is that I should not expect too much anywhere in Honolulu.
As a Diamond it is normal to be allocated to The Rainbow Tower at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and that includes breakfast if you call what they serve as breakfast. (I think I posted earlier in the thread about the breakfast)

I do not know how it compares to the other towers other than its location is quite good. We checked in early (straight off a cruise ship at approx 11am) and were offered a corner suite (mini) on a lower level or wait for a room on a high level. The suite was a good option.

Fiji Beach Resort and Spa Managed by Hilton

One night stay on Friday 30th September. $FJ485 minus 20% = $FJ388 which is approx $A215.

Usual upgrade to a one bedroom apartment.

Currently doing a five night stay for 140,000 HH points and needless to say the same upgrade. :D :D :D

The only negatives I can say is that it is raining continually but even then they have BIG umbrellas in each room and we cannot work the big fancy coffee machine.

The one thing I can say that has changed since my comment in post #129 is that you can get real coffee at breakfast without cost.

Sydney Hilton
Room booked: King Guest room
Rate: $205
Room received: King Relaxation......lovely!
Welcome card, gift, complimentary water and fruit.

Wish I was staying for more than one night!

Hilton South Wharf Melbourne
Room booked: King Guest room
Rate: $235 - 20% = $188
Room received: King Executive room
Welcome note (not card)
Complimentary water.

Including last night I have stayed at Hilton on the Park on five occasions this year. At best I can say is that treatment at this hotel is very patchy.

I only ever expect my entitlements but like everyone here I also like to be pleasantly surprised.

Last night the stay was at this hotel due to its convenient location to Rod Laver arena as I was going to the Meatloaf concert. We paid for an Executive Room as this was the cheapest available and that is precisely what we got.
  1. No HHonors recognition at all other than a welcome letter with the wrong date on it.
  2. An Executive Room immediately next to the Lounge and near the elevators. (again) My preference is away from the elevators.
  3. The room was 'nice' though almost Holiday Inn standard and not Hilton standard IMHO.
  4. No Newspaper. (again)
  5. The need to 'discuss' the bill the get the 20% Hilton Premium Club discount applied. (again)
  6. The scratchy piece of paper with a name scrawled on it when asking for a contact is not very professional either (IMHO)
After the poor performance by the hotel during Oz Fest in May 2007 (see this FT thread) it has taken a while for this hotel to lure me back. After this I think it is back to Hilton South Wharf in future even when attending shows that are better served for this hotel.

I'll be interested to see the response I get from the email I'm sending to the hotel and will post the outcome here when I get it.
