How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Just arrived at Hilton Downtown St Louis. I assume room upgrade, not sure though. No exec lounge here so given 2 drink vouchers per night to use at bar. Comp Internet and full breakfast. Nice old property.

For the price I paid, I could have gone to Westin but decided to show some loyalty to Hilton. Bad choice I suppose.

Don't like the HSW? I know its at the other end of town, but its only 10 minutes by taxi to the east side.

I stay at HOTP mid year and found them very good, but HSW is blitzing everyone for hard and soft product at the moment and if HOTP is starting to drop the ball on elite perks then I wouldn't bother with them any more.

I am particularly bemused by the notion that giving lounge access turns any room into an 'executive' room ... wonder where that came from? I'd heard a lot of excuses over the years but thats new. I'd probably write to management about that to see if its really their new policy.

Stayed at the Hilton Surfer's Paradise this weekend. It opened a month ago, and consists of the hotel and residences (read apartments) The base hotel rooms are the same price of a One Bedroom apartment. I booked the lowest category room knowing that I would receive an Executive Room. I emailed the hotel to ask if I register for a NOR1 upgrade for a suite, if I pay the full $149, or the difference between the NOR1 price for the Executive Room of $69 to the suite. (i.e. $80). Unlike Hyatt, which manages to make Diamond NOR1 upgrades equal zero, Hilton does not have this policy. The property charged me the full amount until I produced the email and stated that I expected them to honour the rate.

As for the Diamond treatment, we received 2 bottles of still and sparking mineral water in an ice bucket, and a bowel of fruit, and letter from the GM. It appears that some Hyatt and Hilton properties see an Islamic name and assume I don't drink alcohol. I generally ask for a bottle of White, but I couldn't be bothered on this instance.

I have had no response from Hilton on the Park for the email that I sent them on the 15th.

I'll try again and this time point them at this and the appropriate FT threads. There is a web site in Oz called notgoodenough.org and that's how they are behaving.

Had two one night stays at Hilton Milan as HH Gold

First stay got exec lounge access, free brekkie and free Internet.

Second stay got upgraded to top floor exec room in addition to thr benefits above.

Service good, will stay there again

Hilton Brisbane
Fri 21-Sun 23 Oct 2011
Booked King Room $198/night (AAA Rate)
Obtained King Executive Room (23rd Floor), Executive Lounge Access, Complimentary Full Breakfast in Level 6 Restaurant each day, complimentary bottles of water (replaced each day), and personal card from GM.

Despite the above, and the staff being lovely, I can't help but think that Hilton Brisbane needs something more. The pool felt like someone's backyard pool, and the Executive Lounge was tiny and had a really ordinary breakfast. Food in Exec Lounge was very basic, and drinks were fairly limited.

I found myself just going up to the Exec Lounge to get a few bottles of sparkling mineral water each day - otherwise it was just not that exciting. Not by HSW standards, that's for sure.

+1. The size of that lounge is bizarre for a hotel of that size. It's uncomfortable to have a conversation with people sitting so close to you.

Should check out the Hilton London Metropole, 1000 rooms, exec lounge appears to be the size of a couple of suites knocked together. In UK parlance compact and bijoux ;)
Agree regarding Brisbane, IMHO all lounges should be modelled on HSW

I think we're all forgetting here HSW is a much newer hotel so would expect the Exec lounge to be much bigger

Notwthstanding your perhaps toungue in cheek comment, It's not so much that it's newer, more that they chose to have a larger exec lounge at the expense of other amenities like swimming pools

According to HSW_Insider - it was at the expense of having a swimming pool!

Hi everyone.
Does the Sydney hilton update your booking with your upgraded room a couple of days before checkin?
À la HSW in Melbourne.
Thanks.

I received an email response from Hilton on the Park this afternoon.

Dear Mr Bill (straitman),

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding your recent visit and also appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to respond.

Firstly please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding, it was an oversight on my behalf.

Naturally your comments raise some concerns over our service expectations, especially to our loyal Hilton Honors members like yourself.

Rest assured I have taken on board all of the comments especially the room allocation, the newspaper delivery and the 20% discount and shared them with our Front Office Manager and corrective action has since been taken. The team members have been counselled and both understand how their actions affected your stay and they expressed genuine regret for the poor impression created.

I cannot change what has happened however, as a gesture of goodwill, I have arranged for an upgrade in a Relaxation Suite, on your next visit and I do hope this assures you of our good intend and to allow us the opportunity to correct your impression. For any future reservation please inform myself and I will be more than happy to assist.

We do hope to welcome you back to the Hilton on the Park Melbourne – there will always be a warm welcome waiting.

With Kind Regards,

Harry Diacos | Quality Services Manager | Hilton on the Park - Melbourne
