Property: Conrad Hong Kong
Dates: 17-20 July
Booked: King Bed Superior room
Rate: 28,000 points + 970HKD* per night (points and money reward) - I also requested a NOR1/eStandby upgrade to a King Executive Peak Suite for 1,350HKD* per night
Received: King Executive Harbour Suite

This was my first time both staying at this property and requesting a NOR1 upgrade, and the check-in experience was a bit strange - the agent curtly started checking me into the Superior room I'd booked, and pretty much ignored my repeated questions about the NOR1 upgrade. I noticed another of the front desk staff talking to the manager, and she eventually walked over and offered the King Executive Harbour Suite for an extra 1,350HKD* per night. With the rack rate for the Harbour Suites 7,000HKD*, or A$1,250 per night, I was very happy to accept the paid upgrade and the extra space came in handy as I was travelling with my wife and 2-year old daughter.

Very happy with all other aspects of the stay - while the hotel does look a bit dated, the service (outside check-in) was excellent.

Lastly, I received HHonors base points for the 1,350HKD per night cost of the NOR1 upgrade - my research before the stay suggested that points and money stays only accrue base points for true 'incidentals', so I was happy with the extra points.

*Excluding service charge

I've never received HH points for the $$ part of a P+P stay so I think you've been pretty lucky there. In the past, with P+P I _have_ received points for other incidentals as you suggest ... in house meals, mini bar, etc, etc.

Status Diamond
Hotel Hilton Surfers Paradise
Booked King Base
Received King Executive
Cost A$230

First stay at hotel and first since making Diamond. Used app the day before and was given choice of 5 Exec rooms. Decided not to select on hope of something better, but then allocated room.

At check-in given xx03 room. No welcome letter but calling told me Afternoon Tea 3-5, Drinks 6-8.30 and Docomo Internet settings). Slight view of beach from balcony and weird sliding door bathroom that was large but badly laid out (could have fitted a bath). Typed welcome card, 4 macaroons and 2 large bottles of water. was in room at 8pm when knock on door for turn-down which I declined but 2 more small waters and chocolates.

Quite a nice EL with variety of seating choices Afternoon Tea disappointing with only one cake. Evening hot choices fish cakes and samosas (both average) but a good cheese plate. Choice of beers and white, red, sparkling. No spirits despite mixers in fridge.

Breakfast in morning at Salt was decent for Aussie hotel. Was told to mention status to get free coffee.

I think someone from HH has been reading this thread.

As HHonors diamond I can say that coffees have never been charged for the Salt breakfast.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

+1 and I are Gold & Diamond.
Charged each day for coffee at HBNE. Maybe should have mentioned our joint status. Coffee also costs more on w/end or at least we were charged more.

We've never been charged either (me - diamond, +1 - diamond) and daughter stayed recently and no charge again and all diamond benefits offered...which is very nice.

I wonder how some of these coffee charging establishments would react if a guest brought the fancy coffee machine from the room down to breakfast with them, plugged it in and made themselves a cup.

Property: Auckland
Dates: 2 nights, late July
Booked: King Harbour View
Received: Bow Suite - 2nd floor

Nice to receive a suite upgrade. Did online check-in while still showing my booked room, when I went online later I saw I had been upgraded. No chance to re-select room at that point though. I like the shape and use of space in this suite (but wouldn't pay full price!)

Late arrival so was glad the upgrade held. Hotel was looking fully booked so upgrade was a surprise. 2nd floor meant poorer view, but I did have the very large 'balcony' area. Nice place to sit and get either morning or evening sun.

Got 4 drink vouchers, which I was able to use in the temporary bar area (the restaurant) on one evening. Full breakfast in the morning, though early departure after 2nd night meant I only used once. Room service utilised once - reasonable price, quick delivery and generous serves. Friendly staff throughout as usual.

Great stay.

Property: Hilton Sydney
Stutus: Gold
Booked King Deluxe
Received King Deluxe with Executive lounge

Surprised when I went to Glass for breakfast to be told Gold would be charged $29, as expected to have continental in lounge.
Told it was "to align with brand standards", implemented since July.
