had a welcome note, congratulating me on a milestone stay with a half-bottle of decent red wine.
Do you know what the milestone was?

Hmm, I'm not sure how many we've had, but I'm guessing it must be getting close to that. Nice to think there might be some "thank you" as recognition. Must admit, 10 stays seems a bit low though, but hey....never look a gift horse in the mouth!Yep - 10th stay at HSW.

I received a half bottle of wine too when I reached my 10th stay earlier this year. It is a nice touch.I think 10 is a good number, and the gift really was probably only a cost of $10 in the end - but the value of the gesture much higher. I have been contemplating staying more often with Hyatt or the Sofitel in Melbourne, but this stay will probably keep me at HSW more often than not.

I'm waiting for Princess F to respond. She seems to draw the short straw with HSW upgrades and she must by now be more than 10 stays!stayed there a lot more than 10 times - no recognition

I find the GM at HSW very responsive to feedback. Informed him about the wine quality for milestone stay and looked like he acted on it. Somehow they found out that I like sparkling water and I ended up receiving a large bottle of sparkling water and some choc truffles once. I used to not receive any love from HSW but after frequenting the place for weeks on end, I have my fav corner room on 19th floor assigned when available.

Shhhh...! I'm absolutely spoilt by HSYD and HSW. Makes it a torture having to stay elsewhere like this whole week (at Sheraton and Pullman ) due to HSYD being sold out :shock:and favourite room in sydney???
Hilton Darwin.
We're diamond and booked King standard room and got a harbour view suite.
Booked via Agoda but was given lounge access and told on checkin that continential breakfast is in the lounge or hot menu breakie in the restaurant (I thought 3rd party bookings and benefits changed recently?).
I thought you couldn't get any benefits at all if you didn't book direct?
this is interesting..

Nice to know. What about points/stays/night credits? You can still get benefits, just make sure to call the hotel before check-in and add your Gold/Diamond number to the booking.
While it's not guaranteed system, it worked well for me so far with bookings via Wotif, Hotels.com and Qantas.
