How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Yep - 10th stay at HSW.
Hmm, I'm not sure how many we've had, but I'm guessing it must be getting close to that. Nice to think there might be some "thank you" as recognition. Must admit, 10 stays seems a bit low though, but hey....never look a gift horse in the mouth!

I think 10 is a good number, and the gift really was probably only a cost of $10 in the end - but the value of the gesture much higher. I have been contemplating staying more often with Hyatt or the Sofitel in Melbourne, but this stay will probably keep me at HSW more often than not.

I received a half bottle of wine too when I reached my 10th stay earlier this year. It is a nice touch.

I have a feeling it is a recent change in approach to upgrades etc. I have noticed a very marked change in attitude of front desk staff in my last two stays (June and July) from previous years, where I'd get the "we've upgraded you" when in fact I hadn't.

I'm waiting for Princess F to respond. She seems to draw the short straw with HSW upgrades and she must by now be more than 10 stays!

You called ? :p

I got the wine on my 10th stay. Except by my count it would have been close to double that.
Solved the problem of the upgrades by booking a suite when I want one ;)
Weird thing happened on my second last stay there when some manager or other rang me en-route to the Airport to tell me that the hotel was sold out so I'd be getting the twin room I booked for the first night and moved to a Relaxation Suite the following day. I asked and was granted a 2 bed suite instead as I was staying with my sister.

Last weekend booked and got King Yarra Suite.

I find the GM at HSW very responsive to feedback. Informed him about the wine quality for milestone stay and looked like he acted on it. Somehow they found out that I like sparkling water and I ended up receiving a large bottle of sparkling water and some choc truffles once. I used to not receive any love from HSW but after frequenting the place for weeks on end, I have my fav corner room on 19th floor assigned when available. :D

and favourite room in sydney???

Hilton Darwin.

We're diamond and booked King standard room and got a harbour view suite.

Booked via Agoda but was given lounge access and told on checkin that continential breakfast is in the lounge or hot menu breakie in the restaurant (I thought 3rd party bookings and benefits changed recently?).

Canapes at 5.30pm tonight but we're missing that to go sunset hunting. Edit: Hubby just told me hes not missing free food so we will be attempting canapes tonight.

Only complaint, its bloody cold in this room even with the aircon off and I cant open any of the windows (which is normal). After a week of getting use to the heat, im not happy with the cold.

I thought you couldn't get any benefits at all if you didn't book direct?

I will say that when we checked in, I handed over the diamond card and not the Agoda coupon but Ive done this before to be told that we booked 3rd party but this time after they processed our checkin, she updated us on the HHonors benefits.

You can still get benefits, just make sure to call the hotel before check-in and add your Gold/Diamond number to the booking.
While it's not guaranteed system, it worked well for me so far with bookings via Wotif, Hotels.com and Qantas.

Nice to know. What about points/stays/night credits?
