How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Room was a little on the small side but fine for me traveling solo...cove and Flashware saw my room, so maybe they can comment further....(not the state of untidiness it was in, tho:oops:)

I thought the room was quite a good size for a London room!

With regard to guests, there's really only one way to be sure of having a free guest, and that is to book the room for two. Now the HSW does generally charge more for two guests so it's cheaper (obviously:oops:) to book for one.

This is where the "Spouse Stays Free" HHonors amenity comes in - if the guest is your 'spouse' then you can book for one (on a non 'inclusive' rate) and that's fine. (More on that here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....b/hilton-hhonors-spouse-stays-free-34657.html)

Hey, most of the time it would be fine, but as per beardoc's anecdote, it sometimes isn't)

If you think you may be wanting a guest (who is not your 'spouse') then you really need to think about booking for two.

Hilton Adelaide
Earlier this month
Two rooms, three nights, $275 per night (before Hilton Macquarie 20%)
Booked King Deluxe, received King Executive
Nothing else. A little disappointed, I have to say, but I still the property is great.

Hilton Tower Bridge was happy to allow a couple of guests into the Exec Lounge (thanks Princes Fiona!). The selection of food was a bit more upmarket than Canary Wharf's Exec Lounge however it did feel like a very small area. All in all, they're both as good as each other and each have their pros and cons!

Well the difference between Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf exec lounges is Tower Bridge is more crowded. Around the corner there were restaurants with the Tower Bridge view 3 minutes walk away. Now that was nice.
Hilton Tower Bridge did not check us when we walked into the lounge as a group of four with Princess Fiona.
I think both hotels are excellent so you may need to be guided by the price
Hilton Canary Wharf is very close to the DLR and there is a lovely London view from the executive lounge that you can upgrade to mostly for 9 pounds.

... and if you step outside the TB Exec Lounge, there's a lovely view of .. erm .. uhm .. the Shard! ;)

Thanks everyone - the price was cheaper at Canary Wharf so I thought it was worth taking over Tower Bridge. I look forward to trying it out (and a night at Doubletree Westminster too!).

Big fan of the Hilton Canary Wharf...Although, I must admit that I do find the Executive Lounge staff somwhat disinterested compared to the more personalised service I have been accustomed to in Australian Hiltons.

Thanks kpc and Princess Fiona for guesting us in to these London hotels exec lounges to do the comparisons.
By the way don't do a steak at The Gun....and if you do the quail be aware of the potential of shot being in your dinner....so careful dining with your teeth is required. It is mentioned on the menu.

Ah! So that's the pub your +1 mentioned the other night. The penny drops!

An AFF member Myrna introduced us to The Gun as it is close to their London home. Myrna now has a stack of local London knowledge and she helped us figure out a few things about London living.
The Borough markets are quite close to Both properties if you want some gourmet tucker....London Bridge on Jubilee line gets you there for some true food delights if you are a bit jaded with hotel food
Both Hilton's are really good so price is how to decide I would think.

That reminds me, you wanted me to pass on some info on a few things ; will PM now.

Well I'll be heading to the UK within a month. Too bad it didn't line up with the AFF concentration that has just vacated the country!

And sorry Flashware, but I don't have any fancy-schmancy stays at a nice Hilton planned (yet or in mind). Happy to chip in some pints, however ;)

I just noticed yesterday that it's less than a month, doesn't time fly

FW Hilton is better anyway ;)

So far on my current UK trip I have stayed at the LHR T4 Hilton, upgraded to an Exec Club Room, The Watford Hilton, upgraded to a King Junior Suite, and am currently at the Mllton Keynes Hilton where I have received zilch. Still have the Bromsgrove Hilton and another stay at the LHR T4 Hilton.

Tony what prices are you getting as a serious serial user of these Hiltons in London?

I'm really on the outskirts of London and then a fair way out, but this week the pricing has been as follows:

Hilton LHR T4 - GBP89.00 (Saturday Night)
Hilton Watford - GBP85.00
Hilton Milton Keynes - GBP89.00
Hilton Bromsgrove - GBP69.00
Hilton LHR T4 - GBP172.00

The latter LHR T4 stay is handy because I can dump the rental car the day before and walk over to T4.
