Hotel: HSW
Room Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Received: King Relaxation Suite.

I've been mostly in Yarra Suites at this hotel and this suite seems like a step down because of the much smaller living area, however still a great great room (They all are here)

Each to their own. I prefer the Relaxation suite over Yarra & 2bdr suites for the open plan design and +1 likes it for the ability to watch TV while having a bath.

But yea, as you said they are all great :)

Hotel: Hilton Prague
Room Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Received: King hilton executive room.

Massive hotel with the longest walk i have ever had to a room.

Exec lounge had some nice sitting areas and the staff were super helpful and quick to serve.

Nice eggs made to order for brekky. Night snacks not as good.

Hotel: Hilton Budapest City
Room Booked: Queen Hilton Guestroom
Received: King Hilton executive room.

Nice modern clean hotel close to the station and joins a large shopping mall that took some of my cash and required additional luggage purchases.

The lounge was small and there were two large families staying that filled the lounge and ate the food. The kids cleaned out everything, even the last pretzels.
Managed to score some pasta and chicken one evening and it was tasty. Good drink selection.

I have a stay booked for tomorrow night at Sydney Hilton. Booked the usual base room for $203 and noticed an upgrade to a relax. room showing so completed online checkin and picked the highest floor showing room availability which was 39. After 3 years staying at this property it was the first time a room higher than exec has been allocated as an upgrade the day before checkin so was a nice surprise. Decided to check a few hours later to make sure the room number had not changed and noticed an even bigger surprise and noticed I had been further upgraded to a King Suite.

After reading about recent upgrades I did feel slightly left out only receiving a relax. room and an exec. room for my stays in july. Although both times late checkout to 2.30pm was granted with little fuss and the staff always go above and beyond with any requests.

Hi, a quick question for more experienced golds and diamonds. Supposedly Gold gets complimentary "continental" breakfast. Whenever I book I generally pay extra for my rate to include breakfast especially when travelling with family so I'm sure we all get the breakfast. I'm currently Gold and after recently staying in the 2 Hiltons in bali and getting basically no recognition or upgrades was glad I booked breakfast in the rate. What do others do?

You sure this was Bali? I'm only aware of the Conrad in Bali ... no other Hilton or Hilton family there as far as I know - though I'd love to be corrected as I'll be back again this coming christmas.

I was at the Conrad last year in Bali and my Mrs and I made full use of the Gold comp breakfast which was, in general, excellent. No upgrade at this property for a Gold and I -was- disappointed as I generally do really really well at Hilton family hotels in Asia. There was almost a hint, but nothing directly spoken, that the room I ended up with was specially selected for me as a Gold, despite there being no proper measurable upgrade. Its hard to know and at places like HSyd you just feel you're being placated with words as their rooms are pretty bad below the 40 somethingth floor so they could tell you anything they think you'd want to hear at checkin and you couldn't really tell.

Anyway, despite me having a healthy skepticism about it all, I _was_ actually pretty happy with the room, as Conrad Bali stretches out a long way and my room was relatively close to the centre area with pool not far off and up on the top tier ... so I couldn't really complain. Would a non status holder have scored this room? Probably ... its all a bit of smoke and mirrors really - but so long as I'm happy and more importantly that the wife is happy ... well its all good :)

Back on topic - I'd rarely be tempted to pay the 30-40$AU per head it costs to gain breakfast at a property, especially in Asia where there are normally wide and worthwhile choices right outside the door. So far as I can remember I've never been tweaked about the continental only thing, though I haven't been to the states for years, maybe its still the go over there. In Australia and Asia it doesn't seem to be a big issue. Although I must admit, my stays with HH have dropped dramatically this past year in Australia given significant nightly price increases coupled with what appears to be a fall in service levels across the board and a 'nickel & dime' mentality thats poisoning the brand over here (imho). If it weren't for fantastic service levels in Central and SE Asia I'd probably give up the brand altogether.

There is a Hilton Garden Inn at the airport now too.

Oh really? Thats good to know. Jeez, that sneaked in under my radar. (goes and has a look) - looks really nice from the photos, and the asking price is going to give the conrad a run for its money.

Interesting that they've gone with a GI rather than a DT branding ... I know next to nothing of GI, better go brush up.

I say this without having stayed at the GI, but having stayed twice at the Conrad. I really don't think you can compare the two properties.

Indeed i was surprised to hear that 'run for their money ' comment myself. Hgi is a basic airport hotel (yes it has a decent pool) and nowhere near the beach.

Ha! Fair enough. Depends on what you're after I guess. I don't find Bali beaches particularly alluring tbh. Even if it weren't for the constant hawkers, the beaches simply aren't that nice - perhaps I've been spoiled living in WA?

I remember wandering out to the beachfront at Conrad Bali, beating off a few hawkers and then generally reviewing the situation ... Not to whinge unnecessarily of course, every place has its own thing. I still remember having a bit of a quiet and not-intended-to-be-insulting chuckle to myself when confronted with the supposedly amazing beaches in Mauritius as well. Perhaps they are this good, depending upon what your own home town beaches are like .... but in many parts of Australia we're pretty lucky imho and have truly world class beaches.

As for 'run for their money', I really meant, 'some much needed competition' I guess. Reports from travellers on Tripadvisor at least is indicating pretty high levels of service, and some supposed HH status holders are comparing that service favorably with the Conrad. A couple of random dates near the end of the year have the GI at < AU80$ a night after taxes where the Conrad is >AU$210. As a gold, taking into account my last trip to the Conrad, it would appear on paper like free breaky is about all you can count on ... and available at both locations.

Having said all that though, after inspecting the location on google maps a bit more closely, its hard to imagine things being particularly serene :) Even with a pool full of kids at Christmas time and quite a number of adult guests (sun lounges almost always full past capacity) the Conrad is so physically huge that you can easily move out of the main noise without necessarily leaving the property. Although reports on tripadvisor are suggesting otherwise, its pretty hard to imagine there not being constant noise and hum coming from the major road flanking one side and the proximity to the airport itself has surely got to contribute a fair amount of traffic noise.

Although I had a really good time at Conrad this past christmas, I'd be lying to say it met my expectations of a Conrad branded resort. Personally, overall, I'd place it well below the Hilton Hua Hin in Thailand.

Property: Hilton Berlin
Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Received: King Hilton Deluxe
When: 3 nights in August 2016
Price: EUR281 total
HH status: Diamond

The Deluxe rooms are sizeable (40 sq m) and a welcome upgrade if you don't get a suite. Only a couple of this room type on each floor. Ground floor Exec Lounge is OK: a larger version of the Prague Hilton lounge with the same type of coughtail food and sandwiches, albeit with soup too. Friendly Exec Lounge staff and check in/out are easy and efficient.

Restaurant for breakfast is LARGE. Really nice meatballs in the brekkie spread and the usual eggs cooked to order etc. The rest of the property is modern and a good place to stay. Checkpoint Charlie is a couple of blocks to the south and the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag a few blocks to the northwest. Great location.

And with a U2 line station right across the road -- agree it's a very good location for a first or city stay. Exec staff were wonderful to me the time I was there.

€90 a night is a great rate for Berlin.

DT CNS
$169 Gov't
Booked King guest
Received High floor (top) waterview

bennies: cookie (of course), attentive check-in lady, snack voucher (chose spring rolls/curry puffs + 500ml sparking water) and drinks voucher (house sav blanc), $6 parking.

It's done what I needed and I despised this place as a HI......now I just dislike it! It inspires me to about the same degree as a drive through car wash.
