How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

How is people's luck with Hilton Surfers Paradise?

My booking for the Queens Birthday weekend is only an executive room upgrade - early I know. But not really an upgrade from a deluxe for a Diamond.
This is my second stay here - last one was the same limited upgrade as well.

Is anyone staying there this weekend get a good upgrade? I guess the suites sold out.

Pathetic upgrades - Don't expect much

1. Upgraded into a "disabled (accessible) room" with lounge access.
2. Lounge access - Executive room!
3. Just given lounge access

First one was as a Gold, the other 2 as Diamond.

On all times there were several suites available, as I asked to be shown around one first thing the next morning, after they gave me the "Sold Out" routine the night before

That being said they always give 4 x bottles of boutique beer on arrival, but shame they are in luke-warm water by the time I get there!

Thanks for the reply lovestotravel.

What a bummer. I was hoping things got better after multiple stays.
At least i'll set my expectations accordingly.

Hhonors Gold

Hilton Sydney
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Rate: AAA at $180/n + 2000 VFF points (hopefully)
Received: A bit unsure. I think it was a standard room on the 27th Floor, but I got Exec lounge access which was all I really wanted. I think the real exec rooms are higher up.

Option of Breaky in the lounge or in the "Glass" restaurant on level 2, didn't need a voucher for this and I specifically asked about it. Free internet was mentioned though I can never be bothered in Australia to jump through the hoops required

No note from the GM, did get some fruit and daily bottle of water though, daily paper

Good check-in service, fantastic lounge staff. I might have misheard a distant conversation, but I think at least one exec lounge staffer has come up from Hilton South Wharf in MEL. Got a quite late checkout and as it rained most of the weekend I used the hell out of the lounge ... small, but nice enough.

Glass restaurant ... under-impressed. Pretty expensive but although the staff are great the food is way too minimalist in my view for the price asked. Zeta bar on the 4th floor is super noisy on Saturday nights until about 2am. Constant doof-doof-doof in my room at level 27. Hotel is super conveniently located though. So despite an odd niggle I'd stay here again.

I've stayed there 4 times and my experience was that the upgrade for each did not post until overnight on the night prior to arrival.

I only got an exec room the last time I stayed there. Am back there tomorrow night so will let you know how I go....but not holding my breath for anything higher. Definitely not as good as Sydney or HSW for upgrades though.

HHG

Hilton Beverly Hills
Rate: Points and pay (20,000 points and $80) and AAA rate (approx AUD $275/night)
Inclusions: Water bottles x 2 per stay, internet, breakfast in restaurant. Given 2 vouchers/day for breakfast, which were each for a continental breakfast (ie nothing hot)- however on last day as I left restaurant to go to airport the waitress told me I could have used 2 vouchers per person per day and had the hot breakfast. Not sure if this is policy - YMMV!
Typed, nonpersonalised welcome letter. Nothing else. I don't think the room was upgraded (booked the cheapest room, which I think was a standard double) but they let me checkin at 9am after the flight from BNE and that was far more important for me!

Hampton Inn Niagara Falls North-of-the-Falls
Rate: $69 (AAA rate $62 but only available for Smoking rooms.... )
Inclusions: Breakfast, internet.
About 3.5 km away from the falls themself, on the river near the whirlpool and the rainbow bridge. Not a lot nearby (and no meal options other than breakfast) but around the corner from the Amtrak/VIA rail station to Buffalo/NYC and Toronto, which is convenient for 6am departures. Bus station also adjacent to train station.
Quite a nice walk along the river to the falls if you are keen, there are also buses and taxis - served my purpose perfectly but if you want a touristy hotel near the restaurants and falls this is not for you!

Hilton Toronto
Rate: Points and pay 17500 points and CAD$62
Inclusions: Exec lounge access (evenign canapes and breakfast), internet and about 4 bottles of water (they seemed to multiply!)
I arrived at 9am intending to leave my bag with concierge, and they insisted on checking me in at that time, which was nice. Not sure if there was an upgrade of room. On the downside, I got told the wrong time for the exec lounge breakfast and showed up at 10.15 when it finished at 10 - that said, there was still food out and I had a light breakfast, but can't tell you what the spread is usually like. Nice location for business and theatre districts, subway nearby and reasonable walk with bags to/from train station.

Usual upgrade to relaxation suite at HSW.

But also locked in a two room Yarra suite in a few weeks on a diamond award.

I'm coming up on my 4th HSW stay in two weeks and kinda hoping for my first upgrade to a suite - never had one yet at any Hilton as a Gold or Diamond.....

Everyone else seems to feel the HSW love.

Maybe I just haven't slept with the right front desk person yet..??

You and me both ;)
Although I don't think I'd go that far for a suite upgrade

Make that three. HSW is still my favourite MEL hotel, but I've never gained a suite like (almost) everyone else has. HH Gold here.

Hhonors Diamond

Hilton Metropole Birmingham airport
Booked: Queen Guest Room
Rate: GBP79

Not so personal letter from the manager, two bottles of water.

Exec club access (hic!) Free continental breakfast and free wifi as part of the Diamond benefits.

Not a bad hotel although the wine selection in the Exec lounge was limited.

Upgrade to exec room, welcome letter from GM (this time actually addressed to me), fruit bowl and couple of bottles of sparkling water. Offered breakfast in Salt as well as Exec Lounge. Much better stay than last time.

My first few stays never attracted a suite, but more recent ones have. And the free breakfast in the restaurant now is locked in.

IainF and MrsIainF are both Diamonds and hoping for upgrades at SYD Hilton tonight. Think it's fully booked...or is it?
