How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

In Conrad Singapore currently.

Hh Diamond.
Booked 2 rooms 3 nights
used a free night cert from Q4 last year for 1 night so actually booked 1 exec room for 3 nights and 1 exec room for 2 nights and a base room for the last night.

No upgrades given from the exec room, although we have both rooms right through so I guess that is an upgrade technically.
I asked about an upgrade at checking and he said they were full. He did seem to check but I didn't jump on the site to prove it.
Offered a bottle of wine as apologie, tool the red- "inspired company" 2010 Merlot. Will drink it in Kuching I think.

Slightly annoying, our room was not ready at checkin so were asked to wait in the lounge (evening coughtails were on). 90min later room still not ready (~8:30pm).. Next morning after breakfast there was a large plate of strawberrys with dipping chocolate and icing sugar with an apolpgy note about the delay in the room. Very nice touch and we had not said anything nor even appeared frustrated that the room was not ready.

Breakfast able to be had in lounge, at the poolside buffet or ground floor main restaurant. Free Internet, nothing else that I can remember. Currently think even as a diamond I'll probably return to the Fullerton or fairmont for my other Singapore stays but will review the hotel later.

I'm there in about 10 days. Will report back.

Please do.... I am booked in there in September but have been reading some pretty coughpy reviews lately. Have been tossing up whether I stay here or go the whole Vegas experience and stay on the Strip in one of the better known hotels. Will be really interested in what you have to say....

I was at the Auckland Hilton this weekend also....but you must have used up all the Diamond benefits..

I booked a Hilton Guest room for two nights @ $267 per night....and got exactly that. Was told no upgrades were available but on checking the Hilton website higher level rooms were still for sale. Did get a note from GM and fruit bowl but the bottle of wine the AM who checked me in promised never materialized. I did get moved to a harbor view room for second night.

Was not impressed by any of the room service meals and the restaurant for breakfast was atrocious. Obviously not enough staff on for the number of guests as the tables were all covered in dirty crockery waiting to be picked up. Overall, I wouldn't be rushing back to the Auckland Hilton....especially when it is often so much more expensive than other Auclkland Hotels.

Hilton Cairns,, received same room 3 times,, when I turn tv on, message has been "welcome mr sutho" today got "welcome david sutho" seems that they have become accustomed to me,,

Hilton South Wharf 7th to 12th June.
Paid $212.50 for King Guestoom.
Upgraded to Executive City View.
Long weekend and hotel full Saturday night so no suite upgrade, but happy with usual exec room, always seem to be in 1604 or 1704. Exec lounge staff fantastic as usual, should have checked in there rather than lobby. Guess the guy at the desk at 11:30am was having a bad day. He was the only one there and we were the only customers. His speech was monosyllabic at best, no "welcome back' or usual patter, just gave us keys and info sheet on lounge and pointed at lifts. In room, no letter, no water, but got what we needed from the lounge. Did get a call on the third night from a duty manager to acknowledge diamond status and that we were returning guests and asked if there was anything we needed to make our stay better.

Either ask for for or get extra from the lounge. I often take extra water back from the lounge.

of course you'd ask before taking the water??

I asked previously but they have no issue so I don't bother now. I do not hide the fact that I'm taking the water either.
we found that to be the case in Australia at the Hiltons we stay at regularly but overseas, they are definitely more aggressive about their water stocks. In venice we saw a american couple 'smuggling' out water, tailed by the staff, made to bring it back and told they were banned from the lounge for the rest of their stay!! we of course asked and were reluctantly 'allowed' to take a 1litre bottle.

Hilton Adelaide 12th June.
Booked: Paid $235 (before 20% discount) for King Hilton Guest Room.
Upgraded to Exec Floor (had noticed it was showing the previous day).
NO Note from GM - surprising as I've had one every time previously, albeit ozfest was the last time we stayed there.
2 Bottles water

As expected and only there from 10pm, so any upgrade beyond the eStandyby upgrade for being Gold would have been wasted.

Double points will be nice. Exec Floor Manager almost gave me a second 20% discount when checking me out. She was apologetic - well, she blamed pregnancy brain for it.

Yipes!

Thanks for the heads up. I regularly, and openly, "smuggle" small bottles of various types out of the lounge and have never once been challenged even though I often do it right in plain view of the lounge staff. Don't want to get banned from o/s lounges though  so will ask in the future.

Just checked out today

Hilton Sydney
Made 2 Separate Reservations due to last minute changes

Night 1: Booked Deluxe Room $349
Night 2: Booked King Standard Guest Room $171 (Great Getaway Sale)

Received: Upgrade to King Relaxation Room for both nights plus Exec Lounge Access. Given the option to have breakfast in Glass if I preferred (which I did on both mornings)
2 Bottles of Water per day
1 Apple per day

No letter from anyone (does a card with housekeeping's name count? :))

Friendly at the Hhonors Check in area when I said I hadn't stayed at the property before (which I said after the upgrade)
Noticed it posted in my account about 2 hours prior to check in. Able to go straight into the room at midday.
Very busy Wednesday night at the hotel with the hotel sold out...a lot quieter last night.

Some data points from stays this year:

Hilton Fashion District NYC - free breakfast, no upgrade (gold)
Hilton Garden Inn 35th Street NYC - high floor room, free breakfast (gold)
Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown Mag. Mile - free breakfast (gold)
Hilton Brussels - diamond was upgraded to ever so slightly bigger room. gold was not. Free breakfast
Hilton Vilamoura Portgual - both diamond and gold upgraded to suites, free breakfast
Hilton Park Lane London - Stay 1 diamond to a massive suite, gold to exec floor room
Hilton Park Lane London - Stay 2 both diamond and gold to exec floor room
Hilton Canary Wharf London - diamond upgrade to suite, gold to exec floor room
Hilton Millennium Bangkok - diamond and gold both upgraded to exec floor room. Fruit in room for diamond

I was surprised also to see that staff were annoyed at this - I was openly encouraged by the lounge manager in Quebec to take *many* canned drinks from the lounge back to the room to enjoy later after the lounge was closed... I've never tried elsewhere though!

To my stays that I haven't yet posted in this forum (all as HHG):

  • 2x Hilton Paris La Defense (1 night & 3 nights)- booked on a group corporate rate (no points and not 'qualifying stays'). Both stays had my HH number linked to the room, and still received free internet (~40mbps - the fastest I've seen in a hotel!!), and on the second stay, the GM bought the bottles of water and two boxes of biscuits up to the room as a welcome and apology for a previous issue with one of their staff. Room rate already included cooked breakfast.
  • Hilton NY Fashion District (6 nights) - hotel was at 100% capacity, so no upgrade. Wonderful breakfast in the restaurant - either order from the menu, or choose the buffet... they had two versions of the menu available - one with the prices, and one without (but with HHonors logos instead)... guess this hotel must be pretty popular with elites! Newspaper and water every day, no limit on the number of devices you could connect to wi-fi (great as we had 2x iPhones, an iPad, an iPod touch and a laptop!).
  • Hilton Quebec (1 night)- upgraded to an Executive King with the most amazing views of the snow (which was even more incredible at night from the lounge)! Early check-in permitted at around 10am. Breakfast in the exec lounge.
  • Hilton Montreal Bonaventure (2 nights) - no upgrade, and no lift - had to carry our own bags up the stairs... breakfast in the restaurant did not include any cooked items.
  • Palmer House Hilton (Chicago - 2 nights) - a brilliant hotel, but it was almost impossible to eat breakfast due to lack of space. Long check-in lines but there was a HHonors line to the right which only took about 5 minutes. One of the hotel staff gave us free tickets to a show that night while we were in the queue. Upgraded from King to junior suite for about ~$70/night (eStandby upgrade), though the room wasn't ready at check-in. Was given a $50 bar voucher, even though we only had to wait about 5 minutes (which bought 4 coughtails when $10 was added). Very nice exec lounge except for the space issues. The lobby is magnificent. Two bottles of water daily.
  • Hilton Vancouver Metrotown (2 nights) - upgraded from King Guestroom to Executive King, though the hotel didn't appear to have an exec lounge. Breakfast in their restaurant again did not include hot food (was $3-5 extra pp), though the staff were very friendly. Bottled water and newspapers.
  • Hilton SFO Fisherman's Wharf (2 nights)- not quite up to the standards of the other properties (very dated - the safe had a key instead of a PIN keypad, etc etc). Breakfast in the restaurant was nothing more than average, and we had to ask for peanut butter. No upgrade for this stay.
  • Hilton Checkers LA (3 nights) - no upgrade. Requested a fridge which wasn't in the room when we arrived. Bathroom door was stuck open so we moved to another room, and had the fridge delivered there. The breakfast was ABYSMAL - it consisted of one English muffin, and a cup of coffee. I'd read on FT that this used to be a favourite hotel among FFers due to the breakfast - a shame that the cooked breakfast is no longer offered, as we were quite shocked at the offering (particularly compared to NY). Not to worry though, as there is a beautiful cafe across the road from the hotel, which has some of the best coffee that I've ever tasted (not the American equiv of dirt and water - but proper barista coffee, AND they had caramel syrup)!! :D Omm nom nom... The fitness centre was reasonable, and the rooftop spa was a personal favourite! They don't mind you taking bottles of wine from the bar up there either, and were happy to extend the usual closing time (even though we were the only ones up there) :D A beautiful hotel, though next time I think I'll take the 1000 points instead of the breakfast, now knowing what to expect! :)
  • HOTP MEL (1 night) - King Deluxe upgraded to King Exec. Welcome back letter from the GM, high floor request granted (was given the top floor). 2x Mount Franklin water bottles in the room. Had to ring concierge to receive a wi-fi password (for my iPhone), though I was able to 'room charge' the ethernet on my laptop without needing to make another call. Had to leave before breakfast began so unsure of details. Did not have time to visit the exec lounge.

Hilton South Wharf. HH Gold Status.

Booked King City View Room, received King City View Room with Exec lounge privileges. Lounge was brilliant - great to have somewhere to grab a drink (soft drink, tea/coffee/hot chocolate) any time of day. Breakfast spread was great - good variety over the days i was there. Shame it ends at 10 on week days, 11 would be better :)

No spread for lunch which was a shame, and the afternoon tea spread was pretty abysmal - but really how can you complain about free stuff!

They had drinks and finger food each evening which was also brilliant.

Overall very happy with my stay, Hotel was amazing and incredible views of the city. Also good view of the crown fire show each night. Staff were friendly and helpful, room service staff always said hello or nodded their head when i went past.
