Hilton Adelaide / Diamond
Great Getaway Rate ($180)
Booked Queen Hilton Guestroom, received Queen Hilton Guestroom
(Despite having non smoking in my profile was given a smoking room, then moved to another Queen Hilton Guestroom - availability for Deluxe and Exec rooms still showing :shock
No complimentary water or welcome from the manager.
Exec Lounge access, in-room WiFi
Oh dear. I won't be kicking up a fuss, I fundamentally received what I paid for. I'll just cross The Hilton Adelaide off my list of hotels I will be staying at in the future!!!
....Exec lounge is OK though.....hic.....

now i have a dilemma, do i stay in the exec lounge or do i head to my junior suite a polish off the cheeky dan murphy's taster's choice shiraz i have with me?
Exec lounge definitelyI changed my mind and fired off a polite email to the generic hotel email address just expressing my disappointment, given my experiences at other Hiltons this year. (23 stays to date!!) I think that not saying anything does nothing to ensure others don't get the same treatment.
Within 30 mins I had a call on the mobile from the manager of the front desk apologising profusely and letting me know that it had been an mistake. I would be moved to a new room immediately. He came to the exec lounge to personally apologise and hand me the key to a high floor junior suite. My bags are being moved as I write.
So all in all a good recovery. Looks like I will be at the Hilton on my next Adelaide trip.

Great getaway fare ($320 I think) for 2 bed bay view
Received top floor 2 bed city view. Nice.
That god awful trim deck is a great place to have drinks... Miss having a pool thoughUpdate.....
Hotel: Hilton South Wharf
Booked: 2 bedroom bay view $385.50 great getaway sale.
Received: 2 bedroom city view, top floor.
Niceties: Hand written card from manager, 2 waters on 2 days (first day had to ask), turn down service and chocolates, scented gift, newspaper each morning, late check out (until 2pm), exec. lounge, internet and full breakfast.
Comments: Movie deal is for both TVs (ie: two different movies at once), breakfast on day 1 was very ordinary (cold coffee, forgotten orders, burnt bacon etc) other 3 mornings was better, lounge is huge but not as nice as SYD (IMHO), rooms seem smaller than 2 bedders at HSP, front desk staff ordinary......not rude, just not engaging or enthusiastic, in fact just like I'd expect as a non-status guest. I was informed at check-in I had an upgrade......but I had to ask what the upgrade was.....a 2 bedroom suite was the reply......I then had to ask city or bay view (remembering I booked a bay view 2 bedroom suite). The valet guys were good and the lounge staff were also good. The real amazement about this obviously newish hotel is NO pool!!!!! Given MELs stinking hot 40oC summer days, I would have thought a pool for 5 star hotel would be a must. They could have stuck it beside the lounge (where that God awful trim deck roof is)........where's the thought process there. Not everyone is in MEL on business. When I enquired as to where the pool was located, the lady at the front desk replied there isn't one, but we are very close to the Yarra! Swim in the Yarra??? Yeah right, not in this lifetime!
Overall.......enjoyed the stay. Will we go back.....definitely.

Sorry! Great entertainment deck! Not the entertainment deck! The "no access" roof that you look across towards Crown Towers when you're in the lounge! I think it's the roof of the restaurant etc!

Interesting that you refer to it as a 5 star hotel. I consider most Hilton Hotels to be 4-4.5.
